pitching |

I have been playing for nearly a month now and have a 6* team that is nearly 7* (judging by their ranking on 6* list). My pitcher is basically maxed out in pitching skill and i am wondering how to get the most out of him. I know that speed can be increased by throwing and running practice but im not sure if its worthwhile. I've heard that speed increases HR's hit and im not sure if i should keep him at his current speed 106-108 mph or try for higher speeds. Any advice would be helpful.

Ed,
This is going to be one of the many things in smallball where there will be as many different opinions as there are people playing the game, so I will just give you my opinion and we will see if other people add theirs. What I look for in a pitcher is not so much speed, but skill. The number of strikes per game is what I really focus on. If your pitcher is truly maxed out, however, and is only topping out at 108, you may not have found your best one. The average, from what I've read in other posts, for your true pitcher without the extra running and throwing training should be 110-111. In any case, after you've found your best pitcher, what you want to do with him really depends on you and your preferences, and the "genetics" of your team. Maybe you have one of those guys who will be a great pitcher and also crank homers, with the proper bat training, or maybe your pitcher can't hit the ball very well, so you decide to put the training into other areas, like the running and throwing. That will really be up to you based on your personal knowledge of your team. I don't know how you found your pitcher, so you may want to review the info on BTB's help site. _________________

he tops at 109 now
i'm sure he's my pitcher but i think adding speed would help strike-outs but increase HR's hit
i'll wont increase speed unless i get some advice from people with great pitcher |

i have 2 good pitchers on 87639...one pitches 102-105 MPH, the other 110-114....both do almost equally well, and i'm only going with the faster one because he's (she's) hitting better _________________
