Well thats a justified end to a horrific season for Miami, everyone that could go wrong did on and off the field. Some people are talking like Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano will take over but I don't think so. _________________

Thats a stupid, STUPID move.
Coker is a great coach and there will be alot of teams looking to hire him... if I were Coker, I'd tell Miami to go screw themselves and find someone else to coach their bowl game.
Its the new trend in College Football, if you don win your conference, fire your coach!
Whats next??? if your offense doesn't score 40 points a game, fire your offensive coordinator?
stupid move.. Miami will be hurting for along time after this.. Coker had everything in place for a solid year next season, but ohh no..
Now, someone is going to come in and have a solid season with Coker's players and everyone will say "so-and-so is the best coach we've ever had" blah, blah, blah _________________ http://sbdevils.com/forum/ and http://smallball.info The only forums you'll ever need. |

I don't think he would have gotten fired if it wasn't for the fight against FAU and the troubles off the field, simply put he lost control of his team. I think they should have kept him but I can also see how Miami wants to get rid of anything or anyone that was involved with this season. _________________

I don't think so. Coker wasn't that great a recruiter. Their offensive line stats have gone down every year since the loss to Ohio State. No quarterback they could have fielded stood much of a chance.
I think two things killed Larry.
One, he is too nice a guy and never really had disciplinary control of the team. Thus the FIU brawl and players putting themselves in situations off field to get in trouble with the law.
When he took over the team he had Dorsey and a few other responsible players that helped keep the other players in line, but the last couple of years no one took up that slack, players or coaches.
Two, switching from the Big East to the ACC may have been a good finacial move for the University at large, but great long time recruiting relationships with high school coaches were hurt at the same time.
Whoever they replace him with has to bring in more discipline and some decent recruiting ties.
