USC will jump Michigan after they beat ND...However I really wish Arkansas or Florida could make it just so OSU could destroy them and really display how weak the SEC is.

man, are all ohioans afraid of going against michigan or something? all my friends back in cincinnati are like "they had their chance, they lost." seems to me like they don't want the slightest chance of losing ever again.

Ohioans are not afraid of Michigan. we are 5-1 against them the last 6 years or have you forgotten that fact?
It's only the losers who always want a rematch. Ok, say they do play again in the National Championship game and Michigan wins. Would they really be the champs. Both teams would have the same exact records and both would have only lost to the other team. What then? Best out of 3 ? How about best out of 5 ?
I'm starting to believe you may get your wish anyways. Money talks. A rematch would generate more money than any other match up possibility. If we have to do a rematch so be it. We will prove it to you again or a neutral site, so you will have no excuses afterwards. The field was bad, the crowd was too loud. Whiners. Our defense heard the remarks made about them and will take that chance to show who the better defense is. A rematch gives you the chance to be embarassed twice. Sound good to you? Sounds good to me.

I do not think a rematch will happen either. USC in all likelyhood will be in it, since they should win the rest of their games. If they lose to ND, then Then, I think Arkansas will get the nod if they run the table, which I believe they will..and with wins over LSU and Florida, that is a lot of BCS points. Who really knows though, doesn't really matter to me, but would like to play USC or an SEC team.

On a side note, if a rematch were to happen, whose crowd do you think would be bigger? If you think UM, then I'd suggest you think again. OSU has showed they travel better than anyone, and especially to Glendale. Just like a home away from home Surprised

The possibility of a rematch is a tantalizing thought. But it's not going to happen. In all likelihood it'll be USC, but if they lose to UCLA or ND, the SEC Champ (Arkansas or Florida), and Notre Dame are right there to jump in. Michigan may be number 2 now, but they won't be in a couple weeks.

It it not possible for ND to jump in. Even if they win out, they will be a 1 loss team..that has lost to Michigan, therefore Michigan will be ahead of them. Basically, here are the scenarios that are left.

1) USC wins out, and most likely jumps Michigan and plays OSU for the National Championship
2) USC loses to ND, and Florida wins out and possibly jumps Michigan to play OSU for the National Championship
3) USC loses to ND, and Arkansas wins out but even at that I am not sure that they would jump Michigan..It would be close
4) USC, Arkansas and Florida all lose atleast once more, and Michigan gets into the National Championship easily

You're right Reds. ND is a long shot to get in. I'm still not ruling out the possibility. If they absolutely smoke USC (which probably won't happen) that may bump them enough. But your scenarios are the correct ones.

Dear Santa,

This year for Christmas I don't want a PS3... a Wii... a Zune... even a early Halo 3 release. For this Christmas... I want Michigan to rematch OSU... I know you wear red and white. But make your heart Maize and Blue, and we'll win one for you!

Sincerely,
Pizzaguy

Dear PG,
You don't really want a rematch, because I know you like the maize and blue. Because yet again Troy Smith, would make a fool out of you.

Wish for a better Christmas present,
Santa

It was 42-39. With 900 yards of combined offense and 81 points, I'm not seeing much defense.

I agree, Michigan fans who are asking for a rematch are just being selfish. They got their shot and lost. Let someone else have there shot at OSU.

And stupid comments like these are why I hope Florida or Arkansas make it. OSU would run either off the field.

Sadly, the BCS doesn't always work in a way that'll make sense.. To me, a rematch doesnt seem very fair either.. but there is still a chance it could happen.

BCS = broken

Is it "stupid" because you think that's a low scoring game, or because you can't comprehend rational thinking?

If I was you I'd really try to distance myself from "stupid" more.

If you get your wish and OSU does "run them off the field", you can say I told you so. I just don't see it going down that way, but that's why it's played on the field and not in one's head.

Man, how narrow-minded can SEC people be! It's "stupid" because to you SEC teams are somehow better than every other team, because you say so. For some reason the SEC is "stronger" because they all lose to each other, yet the Big 10 is "weaker" because Ohio State and Michigan were both undefeated. The SEC is strong because the top teams struggle to beat the bottom dwellers, but USC is weak because they struggled against bottom PAC-10 teams. All you SEC people have this pre-concieved notion that the SEC is somehow the strongest conference. How do you know? All they do is play each other, how could you POSSIBLY know how they'd stack up against other top teams. There is no way, but of course, that doesn't stop you. You would say the SEC plays the best defense, I would say the SEC has horrible quarterbacks(which they do) and they can't play offense period. It's very simple. No team in the SEC could score enough points to beat Ohio State. And I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Florida or Arkansas make the title game. I REALLY REALLY do. Really.

I subscriobe to the school of thought that if you do not win your conference, that you should not be allowed to play for the national championship. Period.

What a great game that was Saturday though.

Talk about narrow-minded, you can't even support anything you just typed. Besides, in case you haven't noticed (and judging by your comments, you haven't), I wasn't the one that made a post about defense into an SEC thing.

I'd have to agree with that also Beaner, but I don't agree with winning the conference by not play 2 of the top 4 teams in your conference. If there wasn't a conference title game, Arkansas would have gotten away with it also. Than again, playing the other conference champions in a playoff, would negate any doubt IMO.

I agree with you thought too Beaner. Unfortunately the BCS doesn't agree with you. Exhibt A: Oklahoma a few years back when they got stomped by K-State. Case closed. Smile

Kyle the problem you just pointed out stems from the issue of having these "super" conferences. With only eleven games a year, teams in the SEC, Big XII, Big East, Big Ten, and Pac-10 would play virtually their entire schedule against conference foes. Ultimately if you want everyone to play everyone equally, 8 (maybe 9) is the best size. However, NCAA rules state that you need a 12-team superconference to have a $1M championship game. It's all about the benjamins baby.

I dont think you get the point that Wisconsin and Purdue are not top teams in the Big 10. Its Ohio State and Michigan. Case closed.

No, that's not what I'm saying. Since the SEC, ACC and Big 12 have title games they can't get around playing the best teams in the conference. That's my point. The Big East avoided it this year and so did the PAC 10, but they won't always. The Big Ten had the same problem last year as well. There's no need to play every team that way.

You also have to look at if Ohio looses the championship by one point. Is the winner the champ or a #3 team that gets a big win in their Bowl Game.

"How do you know? All they do is play each other, how could you POSSIBLY know how they'd stack up against other top teams."

^^^ Quote from G

I think this point is a good one. How do we really know how they stack up against other quality teams? Some of their notable NC games were Tennesse
vs. Cal in which Tenn. won easily, but then Arkansas vs USC....and USC blows them out(Both games were early but still no reason for Ark. to lose that bad) Believe me, this has been a subpar year for top notch NC games, mostly because most teams don't want to saddle up and risk losing a game when they know their conference is tough(That goes for just about everyone).

I guess we just have to wait and see...

Urban Meyer needs to shut up and stop whining. He has no one to blame but himself if Florida doesn't make the title game(which they probably won't even if they win out, and USC loses). Maybe instead of scheduling Western Carolina last week, he could of at least scheduled a D1 school. Say whatever you want about their "tougher" conference schedule, look at USC's non-conference schedule: Arkansas, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. If USC wins out there is no question they deserve to go to the title game.

I think Boise St. is a special case. They are already at a disadvantage being from the WAC. Just me thinking out loud, I think if they really want to be considered to be a national champion they should carry themselves as such. In other words, since they went undefeated, go out and say that they are just as deserving as Ohio State in the title game. All the big schools will say "they don't play anybody." So Boise St. responds by challenging playing top DI schools.

Anyway, I'd like to see that. I doubt that would happen. Whether it's because Boise St. doesn't want to schedule the likes of Ohio St. or if the Ohio St.s and such don't want to risk a loss. (And I do think they could compete with some of the best).
