I posted this on the soccer forums, but no-one is responding to it, so I'll post it here:

I tried to play Footie the other day.

I downloaded the client, no problems.

I was able to create a team no problems, but then, wasn't able to train or play games. As soon as I open up the trainer or the game finder, it freezes my whole computer, no error messages nothing.

I have to reset my computer.

I can then log in again, but still the same problem occurs.

I have the most updated version of Java, allowed Operating Systems.

Anyone have any thoughts?
Chris.

check the folder, it should be something like

C:\My Games\SmallBall\football

etc...

in your case, it may go through program files or something

then if you rigght click and check properties on the icon on your desktop you can then see if it is the same

I can run the program, and bring up the game window.

The problems occur after that, once I click on the Trainer or Public Game buttons.

I haven't had any problems running soccer so I can't offer too much advice. Try updating Java and Directx.
Which operating system are you using ?

Windows ME was probably one of the worst operating systems MicroSoft ever came out with after Windows 3.1
I would try to upgrade it to Windows 98 SE if I were you. You can find that fairly cheap online. I bought a copy a while back for under $15
I'm guessing your problem is that your version of Windows is not supported. I do know Soccer works on Windows 98SE for sure. I am using it on my laptop and it runs fine.

Ok, looks like I can't play then.

It's my parents computer and dad has refused to spend anymore on it. Looks like it might have to have an unfortuante accident Twisted Evil, only kidding, coz then I couldn't train my teams!

Chris.

Windows ME came out after 98SE

So he would be downgrading.

WinME might have been the worst OS, but it still worked fine.

If he was to change OS it should be to Win2000 which would then be considered an upgrade.
