Each team is unique and will require different training than another team. Some teams are just a few weakness train sessions from 10*, others are never going to make it with their current schedule. And some can just get balnket trained to 10*...Most will tell you defense, others say balance. You really have to figure it out for yourself...Some teams are better off being half of a step away from 10* and get worse when they reach 10*. All the 10* rating really means is that your team is maxed (well not really, close to it anyway) and sometimes that's a bad thing.

Prediction for first reply, "All coming from a guy that has never reached 10* (rolling eyes smilie)"

Forget trying to explain it Mike, most of them just don't get it.

No but they help (a lot). The only thing necessary to get a team to 10* is a team (and a trainer...So I guess two things).

Scouting reports indeed help alot. It makes the weaknesses of your players visible and shows in which area your individual players require training to achieve 10* status.
I know I did not make it yet but I am working on it. I also believe that it is more difficult for certain teams to achieve it simply because of the fact that players are less talented.

I have never once "trained" a team to 10* but so far I have had 8 teams reach 10*, 2 on the actual 10* list. How I did it, I am not sure, because I never once tried to make a 10* team. I only train my teams to be the best that they can be. What I will say is that I train my teams overall for complete balance, good at everything, but give them a tad bit more hitting and running. That is my normal training pattern and that seems to get me 10* teams. Maybe that will help you some.

As for scouting reports, throw them away. Useless, I say that for one reason and one reason only.

My first ever 10* team, once I got them I ran a scouting report on them. I had a guy 10* in batting and 8* in defence and an overall 8* player in when I made my first 10* team. One of the guys I had on the bench was a 10* batting and a 9* defence, so I put him in the place of the over all 8* guy, I figured it would move me from the top of the 9* list as a 10* to the actual 10* list. Didn't happen, it moved me to 9*. I thought opening the trainer made me lose skill and ran another scouting report but everyone was exactly the same.

I was a 10* team with an overall 8* player in, but when I had all players over all 9* with 3 being over all 10*'s, I was a 9* team.

It is about more then over all ratings. That is for sure.

For those that don't know, there is one key and one key only to getting a team to 10*, and that is balance

Now understand......what I mean by balance isn't in players, but the team its self. NO, defense is not the way to getting to 10*, and in fact most of the teams I have had had 10* batters not 10* defensive players.

SB Knights has a good idea of what it takes.

Scouting Reports have never helped me get a team to 10*. In fact, I believe they are a complete waste of time. Some people use them but they have never told me something I didn't already know.
I trained 6 teams to 10* in my first year (3 of them got there in less than 3 months Surprised ). While 10* is considered a "GREAT" accomplishment to me it is nothing like winning PL1, which I've never been able to do with my personal teams only done with CT's (special thanks to the great trainers of PvT for those 2).
You want to get to 10*? Train your guys from the bottom of the list to the top of the list (Weakness train). Always train 1 player at a time and never more than 1. I'm not guaranteeing you will make it to 10* but that's how I did it. As Nelmo said BALANCE is the answer and more importantly bench rotation as GW has referred to many times in the past.
I honestly don't believe all teams have the ability to make it to 10*. So maybe your teams are built for winning and not 10*. The day one of my personal teams wins PL1 is the day I will have completed every goal in SB and hence the day of my retirement. I'm predicting that will happen some time in December of 2029 but I might be a little optimistic there Wink

so it seems that there is really no exact science to reach 10* except for balance and luck....but all the HMS teams seem to do it with ease, I wonder what there secret is?

It's quite simple.

You exploit each specific player's specific strengths.

For example, don't train a player that can't hold catch well in catch...

Train with what they gain and hold well to maximize every single ounce of TP for the highest maximum skill yield. Therefore, the average star level surpasses the 10* limit and... there's your 10* team.

Very well said Money. Wish I could articulate like you do. Very Happy

Some of you that know me know I have always said I prefer strenght training over weakness training. Thats probably why every team I have trained has reached 10* sooner or later. Thats probably because I like to look at gains and if someones strenght is power, they get more of that than anything else, and if someones strenght is contact, they get that more. Like money said that was 100% on the MONEY (no pun intended) exploit their strenghts and gains, and balance out all other skills and you have a 10* team. The community teams are easier to get to that point because every trainer focuses on one player and does just that...........giving them a schedule that maximizes their strenghts, while at the same time giving them all other skills in between.

For example you have a player that is 9* batting and cant get the 10th star in batting because of lack of gains in power when training in power. You can actually get that 10th star by exploiting his best batting skill, and reaching a higher level in batting by giving him what he can gain instead of what he seems not to be good at.
