nfl week 4 picks |
|
|
Well last week was another average week for me. I plan to make it better this week.
last week- straight up- 9/14
against the spread- 7/14
3 week total- straight up- 27/46
against the spread- 22/46 (still under .500- not a good idea to trust my picks)
So here we go again:
Chargers at Ravens (+2.5)- Can you say defense. This could be the best game of the week. 2 of the best defenses battling it out so this will come down to whose defense just cracks a little bit. And seeing from last week that will be the Ravens. Chargers win and cover the spread in a close field goal game.
Saints at Panthers (-7.5)- I am so impressed with the Saints. What a game last week against the Falcons. I did not see that one coming. I can't go against the Saints this week against just an average Panthers team so far. Even if the Panthers win, they wont cover. But i'm picking the Saints to upset the Panthers in my upset pick of the week.
Dolphins at Texans (+3.5)- Th Texans changed up their strategy last week. Instead of allowing 300+ passing yards again, they only allowed about 260 but that was at the sacrifice of giving up about 230 rushing. The Dolphins will do fine reguardless of which way the Texans play this week. Dolphins win and cover in my top pick of the week (i never thought the Dolphins would ever be a top pick).
Colts at Jets (+9)- The Jets have been 110% better than anyone thought they would be. However when you are playing the Colts, you shouldn't get your hopes up. Colts win and cover.
Cowboys at Titans (+10)- It was announced yesterday that Kerry Collins is starting again for the Titans. What idiot made that decision. We need to fire him immediately. Vince Young deserves a chance. Cowboys win and cover.
Cardinals at Falcons (-7)- If the Cardinals play Vick the same way the Saints did, the Falcons could be in for a long day, however that wont happen because the Cardinals have a weak defense. However, I do believe they will keep the game close. Falcons win but do not cover (or possibly tie) the spread.
Vikings at Bills (-1)- The Bills have not impressed me at all this year. The Vikings have. So easy decision here. Vikings "upset" Bills.
49ers at Cheifs (-7)- I can see a possible upset here. However, the 49ers just have too weak of a defense. Cheifs win but do not cover the spread.
Lions at Rams (-6)- The Rams have been doing better than I thought they would do. I give them the upper hand in this one. Rams win and cover the spread.
Browns at Raiders (+3)- What a "quality" match here. At least the Browns have a sign of life. Browns win and cover and look much more impressive than they should be and the Raiders get closer to the #1 draft pick and an 0-16 record.
Jaguars at Redskins (+3)- I think Brunell has some confidence now. He might have a better game against the Jaguars than Peyton Manning did. I don't see enough offense in the Jaguars this year. Redskins upset Jaguars.
Patriots at Bengals (-6)- We could be looking at one of the Superbowl teams in this game, but its not the Patriots. It's the Bengals. Carson Palmer has looked impressive so far and he will continue that this week. Bengals win and cover the spread.
Seahawks at Bears (-3.5)- What a great battle this will be in the Sunday night game. The Seahawks wont put up 42 points this week. This game will be tied going into the last two minutes. The Bears win on a late field goal. Bears win but do not cover the spread.
Monday night game:
Packers at Eagles (-11)- Anything can happen in this one. Eagles could blow the Packers out or it could be a close Packers victory if Farve is having a good day. Personally, I think the Eagles are too good to blow this one. Eagles win but do not cover as the NFC East goes 3-0 this week.
Challenges always accepted and appreciated!!! _________________ Go Giants!!! |

Against the spread:
Week 2: 11-5
Week 3: 6-7
2 Week Total: 17-12
This week's picks in bold:
Chargers at Ravens (+2.5) - This should be a great game. I see the Ravens defense confusing Philip Rivers and Baltimore will win a close game.
Saints (+7.5) at Panthers - I'm pretty sure the Panthers will win this game, but I can't give them a 7.5 point cushion. The Saints looked too good last week to pick against them this week. Panthers win by a field goal.
Dolphins (-3.5) at Texans - The Dolphins haven't shown that they're the Super Bowl team some were hoping for, but they should be good enough to beat the Texans by a field goal.
Colts (-9) at Jets - It's still the regular season, so of course Peyton Manning will be unstoppable.
Cowboys at Titans (+10) - Kerry Collins may be the worst starting quarterback in the league, but I think there have been too many distractions in Dallas this week, and the Titans will keep it close.
Cardinals (+7) at Falcons - The Falcons looked amazing after their first two games, then terrible against the Saints. I'm not sure what will happen this week, but I'm going for the Cards.
Vikings (+1) at Bills - Oh, the 1 point favorite. Gotta love it. I think Brad Johnson plays another efficient game and the Vikes win by a couple scores.
49ers at Chiefs (-7) - Chiefs finally show what we've known all along: They can put up some big points on offense.
Lions (+6) at Rams - I have been all about the Rams this season, but I think they're due for another upset. Lions pull off the big surprise and win in St Louis.
Browns (-3) at Raiders - My lock of the week: this will be the ugliest game of the season. What happened to the once mighty Raiders?
Jaguars (-3) at Redskins - Brunell gets crushed by the defense that supported him in his younger days.
Patriots (+6) at Bengals - The last time the Patriots are the underdog this season.
Seahawks (+3.5) at Bears - With Shaun Alexander out with a broken foot, nobody outside of the Pacific Northwest thinks the Seahawks will win this game. Except me. Maurice Morris fills in decently, and Hasselbeck uses his wide array of wideouts to crush the Bears.
Monday night game:
Packers (+11) at Eagles - Brett Favre never disappoints on Monday night. _________________
