I think it is more or the less the same as catching training except for the running gains you get. My experience is that the catching gains in fielding are less then with catching training. Since my players are all up to speed I do not use it anymore.

I posted this question before but I did not get a lot of response at that time. I guess it is a bit of a mystery for everyone....

I only use that area if I am in a hurry to train and the catch circle is full. Normally I try to train in catch using the catch circle one player at a time.

It trains in catching and throwing at the same time. If you want to train in both at the same time, then you use it.

This is something that is never talked about much, I got a sec. so I will.........

Fielding area vs Catching area

The fielding area will give you run and catch, while the catching circle will give you throw and catch.

This is very useful if you are a trainer that looks at how your players are doing while in the DT. A shortstop and second basemen need to be fast on the field, so that they can get to the ground balls hit close to them. A good way to tell if you have good players at those positions is by watching the players in the fielding cage, and seeing who is the quickest at getting to the balls hit out of the cage.

Remember the catch gains on both fielding area and catching circle are about the same if you do one player at a time

Also the run and throw gains are both very minimal, so you will probably just get a +1 or +2 in fielding area, and also a +1 or +2 in catch circle while training catch. And thats if you have a average team. A above average team with a balanced high star defense will not matter much where you train in catch.

But if you have a balanced team, who are all good at run and throw along with catch, then it would be good to do this.....

Look to see the lowest in throw and train them in catch circle, and the ones lowest in run in the fielding circle. That way if either needs a little in their weak area they will get it.

Hopes this helps a bit. Very Happy

Thanks Nelmo for the clarification. I had more or less figured this out but I thought that the cathing gains were less with fielding. I will try this, observe my players and find out of it really makes a difference.

Thx!
