PL Hell |

Heyy all. We all know that the higher the PL you go in, the harder? I still cannot figure why, my team is a really go0d decent team. (501732/55350)but PL 8 is a problem, I have bad luck with it. I dson't see why either. This has to stop. I feel like [in a wayy] pL 8 is like hell. Maybe something will happen this season, lets find out. _________________

I don't know if I completely agree with the higher the harder comment. PL4 is, in my opinion, the hardest league to advance from (but I know what you mean about PL8). You just don't breeze through all of them. You are a great trainer but after all SB is SB.
Good luck with them _________________

IMO Rally, I think maybe you haven't had luck with timing.. perhaps you should scout your teams out more or base it on how you train vs. what stadium the team has _________________

Keep your chin up Ral. I had a team in PL5 for 6 seasons. I had 4 other teams pass them by. They finally made it through. PL5 has never been a problem for me, but with this one team......
I did have one fall back to PL5 this season.
Thats cool though. I use it as motivation to succeed. _________________ "The desire to be a champion is not nearly as persuasive as the commitment to be a champion" |

Agreed 102%!
my 212806 has had 2 chances to advance from PL4 to PL3 in the past 6 or so seasons.. each time they finished 13-5 and either 1 or 2 spots out from advancing.. Why?
Simply because I screwed up.. I didnt think about things and I played games right off the bat. Had I waited a while to play.. would I have advanced? maybe so! seeing how each of those seasons the games I lost were games I started (won every game started against me.. except for MAYBE 1.. but cant remember)
Take it from someone thats learned the HARD way,, take your time. Train your guys to their best possible abilities and play your games in a smart way. Dont do like some folks and buy your way into a higher PL.. work your own way up and learn from your own (and other's as well) mistakes.
IMO thats the only way to be good (and I mean really good) at this game. Dont look at PL8 as hell.. look at it as one hurdle for you to go over.. take your lessons learned and move on. Down the road those lessons might earn you a PL1 title.. who knows? _________________ http://sbdevils.com/forum/ and http://smallball.info The only forums you'll ever need. |

demotion to PL5 (which is where I was last season)

Yea I will, I just beat out all the low *s & all of that stuff early. I think I need 2 do some more scouting though. Hopefully, but my team never does go0d in BY. We had a lucky win this season 5-0 against an 8* there. I think we will advance cause they are getting tired of PL 8 themselves. The closest I have gotten to PL 7 was 2 spots LMFAO. I'll keep up here. _________________

I spent half of last year in PL 5 and PL 4, that by the time I actually did get to PL 3 I was sick of it!
But really, I think the reason that you're having a hard time is that all the PL leagues are getting consistently more competitive. _________________

I had one team stuck in pl8 for 4 seasons. it finally fell back to pl9. Then over the next 3 seasons they finished in the top 5 in pl9,pl8 and pl7. Then this season just missed going to pl5 by 5 spots. One of the problems I felt staying stuck in pl8 was I was constantly scheduled playing teams on their way down from higher leagues. So I was playing teams as good as mine or better and just missing the cutoff. When they fell back to pl9 they played more teams coming up so was able to get the extra win or two to advance. They stayed with parts of this group through pl7 but now in pl6 it's a tougher crowd. They've pitched a tent and are ready to dig in.
Just my thoughts on this. |

| Hey I know how you feel. I was stuck in PL2 for seasons 91-123,with a couple of quick trips to the show and back down again. That is a year and 4 months. Every team levels out for a while, and when you least expect it, get a lot better (or a lot worse). |

i have also had one team in pl5 hell, now dropped to pl6, which seems easy for this team
but my other team struggles in pl8 also, but now is in pl5, going up in each of the last 3-4 seasons and passing the other team
but what i have learnt over the past 6 weeks in invaluable to my struggle to succeed at this game _________________ BB . 55229 . 130295 . 13611 . 8358 . 856 (SBD Community)

You don't know what stuck is until you have 4-5 YEARS in PL4 with only a few sniffs of PL3.
Got one team that has dropped from pl3 to pl4 last season now back to pl5 after only winning one game.
This team has been showing up on mid to high rank on the 9* list.
I think that is a curse.
My other team hardly gets on the list any more and missed going to pl2 by one win. When this team was high on the 9* list, it couldn't get out of pl4, sometimes dropping to pl5.
It's all in the training.
The team that is dropping was being trained to max skills.
The other has been more of a balance training regiment. _________________ Waiting for a good quote |

Is it really that hard to leave? I mean, I can leave tomorrow and forget about smallball, but I'm not. I have fun training, and when training isn't fun, then why wouldn't you want to leave? _________________

Maybe I'm just a little bitter at missing out on PL2 by one game in two of the past three seasons. _________________

PL8 has been a struggle for me too. I finished 12-6 last season and missed making it to PL7 by 2 spots. The season before that, I was around 5th in Jr League! Idk what I'm doing wrong, but like Ral said, it's hell wherever your team is at this point! _________________ Founder of the SBPA
