Ryan Howard Subject description: chasing a milestone |
|
|
Ryan Howard has 53 homers, and the Phillies have 24 games left.
Now that the game is supposedly cleaned up, is 62 worth anything like it used to be? |

"Baseball is loath to admit that it blew it during the late 1990s and early 2000s when Bonds, McGwire and Sosa – each as juiced as a glass of squeezed oranges – made a mockery of the record book and spit in the face of Maris' accomplishment."
I got a chuckle out of this article. But it's so true! If Ryan Howard can get past Maris' record of 61, give the man the crown... he deserves it ALOT more than Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa. _________________

If Howard breaks it, give it 3 or 4 years then he'll be suspected for steroids...

I don't know why Sosa is accused of steroids. Bonds said he took it, McGwire was caught with it, but Sosa was never found with anything. _________________ god only knows when your word isnt pure and the blood on your hands isnt yours. |

Sosa went in front of congress and didn't deny that he took steroids.
To me, it's pretty simple. If you did it, you keep quiet on the stand. If he didn't do it, he should have (and would have) denied it. |

Ryan Howard is just a beast. That's all. If he doesn't hit 62 this year, he'll do it next year! _________________

what are the odds that he did it on purpose if only one out of 300 bats are corked. But i don't wanna get off topic here.
Ryan Howard is having a very excellent performance. When was the last time someone not accused of steiroids had a chance at 60 home runs? _________________ god only knows when your word isnt pure and the blood on your hands isnt yours. |

I think Ryan Howard is just a pure home run hitter. I think if anyone brings around suspicion that he's taken steroids, they should be ashamed of themselves because there's no proof at all.
However for Sosa I think the corked bat thing was an honest mistake but come on he hit 15 or 16 homeruns after being accused of taking steroids. The proof is in the pudding my friends. _________________ No one cares about smallball.... |

Griffey in 1998, or there abouts.
Howard is a guy in the mold of Jim Thome or David Ortiz. He's a very large man, but not one that I'd suspect of steroid use for even a split second. Most steroid users, even the "small" baseball players that have used them, are guys that don't have much, if any, excess fat on their bodies. Ryan Howard is hardly a "ripped" individual, as Wilson noted. _________________

Update:
Howard has 56 homers with 19 games to play.
The controversy when Maris hit 61 was that they played 162 games rather than the 154 that they played when Ruth hit 60. If Howard gets to 61 in the next 11 games (154 total), then he's hit another milestone in baseball history. |
