8. LSU - #2 in SEC West, losses to Auburn. Finishes ith 1 loss

Hmm, thats interesting Mlthmp, but do you really think 3 Big XII teams can make it into the top 7 With Texas ranked #3 that means they win the Big XII, which means that they would have to have beaten Nebraska twice. And with USC being your number one doesn't that mean they would have to beat NU, giving NU 3 losses. If NU beats USC and USC and Texas only have 1 loss, and Texas only loss is to OSU the it would be an OSU/Texas rematch for the title. _________________ 2005 Football National Champs

To me.. even if a Nebraska loses twice to Texas in one season.. and loses to USC.. they could end up being a better team than Notre Dame or an Alabama or other big name schools.
Lets say In "Game 1" Texas beats Nebraska 13-10. Texas goes on to win their division and Nebraska goes on to win theirs (only other loss on the season is to USC) and loses another close game to Texas.. I still think that 3 loss Nebraska team could be ranked higher than a 2 loss Notre Dame for Example.
Would it be fair? Well, no probably not but we've all seen in the past that the NCAA isnt fair as-is. Besides.. this is just who I think the top 10 should be.. I probably wont have a single position correct.. but its alot of fun to think about.
Want to see some drama?
Imagine if we saw the top 4 at the end of the season being undefated.. _________________ http://sbdevils.com/forum/ and http://smallball.info The only forums you'll ever need. |

Very good point, what I think would be cool is if we see Texas, OU, OSU, USC, and 2 SEC team, all with 1 loss at the end of the season, think of how cool that would be. 6 teams all trying to make it into 1 game,
The thing I'm worried about is ND getting 9 wins and getting another undeserved BCS bid. There was no question ND was outclassed by OSU last year, AJ Hawk wrecked Quinn up pretty bad. _________________ 2005 Football National Champs

#1 The Ohio State University
#2 USC
#3 LSU
#4 Georgia
#5 Tennessee
#6 West Virginia
#7 Penn State
#8 Florida State
#9 Miami
#10 Iowa
(Honorable Mentions to Virginia Tech who I think can do some damage in the ACC.)
I hate to spoil the party, but who ever thought that a QB who has yet to take a snap can lead Texas to a National Championship, let alone a top ten ranking...
Sorry. Texas will fall at least twice this season. Once to Oklahoma, and the other one I could name a couple. Vince Young is gone, and the scrambling ability that WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP for you is gone with it. Vince's running ability was great for situations where the play has completely crumbled, and the WR are completely covered. Texas will no longer have this.
OSU has TWO things to worry about this season. Penn State, and Iowa.
Anything else would have to be considered an Upset. |

I have to admit.. while I am biased (being a fan) how can so many people have 2 or 3 SEC teams in their top 10 with no mention of Auburn?
As I said, I am biased.. but not to the point of thinking my team is the best ever (I ranked them 4th not 1st by any means)
Look at their schedule.. Auburn has four road games, at Mississippi State, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Alabama. Which means LSU, Florida, Arkansas and Georgia all have to play on the plains..
Kenny Irons and Brandon Cox together make this a rather dangerious offense.. Will they go undefeated? Nope. I do think they'll win the SEC and lose 1 along the way in SEC play. _________________ http://sbdevils.com/forum/ and http://smallball.info The only forums you'll ever need. |

I'm loving that prediction! I hope you're right. |
I give credit to Georgia, every year they lose players, and every year they lose one or two, but you can consistently find them in the top 10 or in a BCS game, so I would have to say they are a safe bet.
Hopefully, I didn't just jinx their season though. |

So are you saying OSU is worse then UM? Meh, won't even go into that, don't need to. Might be better for UM not to be ranked good, cause you know what has happened lately when they have been |

The most famous, and best-supported, of the Michigan varsity teams is the football team. Michigan's football program is among the most storied and successful in college football history. Michigan won the first Rose Bowl game in 1902, has won an NCAA-record 849 games through the 2005 season, and has an all-time winning percentage of .745, also an NCAA record. The Wolverine football program claims 11 national titles: 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1918, 1923, 1932, 1933, 1947, 1948 and 1997.
Who has the All-Time Wins Record?
Who has the Highest All-Time Winning Percentage?
Who has 11 National Titles?
Not OSU... |

Funny...I found the same facts on this link, in the same order and everything. What a wild coincedance. I agree, OSU will be a powerhouse this year and will perform better than Michigan. Michigan is a great football program, and have an excellent history, but this year OSU will have put together a better team than them, and that's all that matters in the upcoming season. _________________ 411259 Drop Dead Gorgeous (aSi) - Thanks a ton to Issued-Away for them!

That was a pretty good joke, couldn't stop laughing. Be close like it always is, but at The Shoe, and with the better team, no thanks. Um vs Tressel at the Shoe, hasn't gone so good. Also, as Minister pointed out earlier, we are arguing with you, not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_Wolverines. |

So you came in here to post that? About 1 game, where we didn't have our starting QB? Your team is better this year? I coulda swore you would say they are worse, because Vince Young(aka your desire or "jesus in cleats") is gone. |

So you came in here to post that? About 1 game, where we didn't have our starting QB? Your team is better this year? I coulda swore you would say they are worse, because Vince Young(aka your desire or "jesus in cleats") is gone. |
Idiot. I dint say that TEXAS is better this year, TEXAS is better than OSU this year, NOBODY is better than last years Texas team. |
Well that post proves my entire point of view on you. Ignorant. It is worthless to have an arguement or conversation with you, because you always have to think your way. Your right, why not. All hail 2005 Texas, no one will ever be better than them. Ever, period |

Maybe I should add in the 2005 Rose Bowl, some QB named Vince Young broke out with a huge game against Michigan(A 2 loss team that wasnt as good as advertised). That site was also the site of the 2006 National title game, where Vince against played brilliant winning the game.
Now Troy Smith, in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl, played amazing against a not so great opponent, Notre Dame, like Vince in 2005. So it might not be out of the question to see Troy Smith have a heisman quality season.
I take an experienced QB any day over a great defense. Why did Texas have so much trouble against OU for awhile? Because they didnt get great QB play, and in college football it is huge.

While I dont agree on the top two.. I have to admit I could very well see the final poll looking like that. You pick Florida third with Auburn fourth.. think we could see two SEC teams in the BCS with this poll? _________________ http://sbdevils.com/forum/ and http://smallball.info The only forums you'll ever need. |

| I should also throw out a name Chris Wells, a 6'1" 225 pound beast who can take it all the way, very similar to Adrian Peterson, so its not just Pittman at running back. If the Fiesta Bowl is any showing, Ginn is going to be one heck of a reciever this year, playing in Tressel system doesnt always allow for big numbers. |

You really think Tennessee will make that big of a comeback? They flat out sucked last year... I also think 4 SEC teams (while I'd love to see it) in the top 10 is highly unlikely. The SEC tends to be up on each other and leave only 1 or 2 at the end of the year. And I mean really, we all know if there's going to be 4 SEC teams in the top 10, one of them's bound to be UK... _________________

Your right, Chris Wells looks like a great back. If he is as good as Adrian Peterson then he will be something to watch. I wold like to see Texas play Sergio Kindle at RB but we need LB more than RB so it looks like he will be a LB, . Kindle was the best RB and best LB in the state last year.
Texas had problems against OU because Mack wouldn't play Major Applewhite his Sr. year . And because we had a complete idiot named Chris Simms that didn't know which Roy Williams he was supposed to throw to.
Lets not forget that ND had a terrible D and Michigan in 05 had a good D.
Anyways, beaners top 10 could happen, even the 4 SEC teams in the top 10, think about it, if Florida loses to Auburn, then LSU beats FLorida, and then Florida beats Georgia and then they beat Auburn in the SEC title game the SEC could get 4 top 10 teams. Unlikely, yes, but wierder things have happend.
Has anyone looked at WVU's schedule? They only have to get past Louisville and they get to play for the title. _________________ 2005 Football National Champs

A dynasty isn't built in a year son... |
Funny...I found the same facts on this link, in the same order and everything. What a wild coincedance. I agree, OSU will be a powerhouse this year and will perform better than Michigan. Michigan is a great football program, and have an excellent history, but this year OSU will have put together a better team than them, and that's all that matters in the upcoming season. |
lol.

Its best to just wait and see OSU beat Texas. Texas has a good team this year just not going to be able to stop OSU Offence this year its not like Troy smith is suspended the first game and has to wait til the middle of the game vs texas to finally get to play. and the only reason OSU lost last year was because of the missed Field goal that then put Smith in a bad spot and ended up giving up the safety.
I think people will underestimate Ginns thinking that hes not a good WR while he might not be as good as Holmes was he is still a good WR and will be a Huge part of their offence. |

It would not be the first time Tenn. stunk it up and then came back big. If you look around at most pre-preseason polls, you'll see 4 SEC teams in many of them. It's just that in almost all of them Georgia is not one of them.
Honestly, it's just too early to effectively predict anything. I could just have easily had Southern Cal or Michigan somewhere in the top 10. I could easily have put Ohio State at #1 rather than Texas. I mean it's pretty much like throwing darts at a dart board right now. Most picks now are based on perceptions from last season's performance and personal bias. We should try this again in September.
As far as what Gosnork was saying about West Virginia, I thought that last year our Bowl matchup with them was laughable. I didn't know a single Georgia fan who didn't think we would blow them out. They then proceeded to kicked our butts up and down the field. I don't see much of a reason why they won't waltz through their schedule again this year, and end up in another big Bowl game and end up in the top 5. _________________

I'm loving that prediction! I hope you're right. |
Agreed, but I think Georgia will probably end up around #'s 12-15. Top 10 is a possibility, but top 5 is a bit of a stretch, IMO. _________________

I'm gonna go ahead and change my prediction a bit. I say that West Virginia could quite possibly go undefeated if they play like they did last year, and make the National Championship against OSU.
That'd be a fun game.

I don't think that WVU is going to do great this year, I think last year was kind of a fluke. Afterall they almost blew the game last year.
Although I am a huge Michigan fan, I think OSU will pull out this year, they are on their home turf and they are going to have an amazing offense in my opinion.
1. Ohio State
2. USC/Notre Dame
3. Notre Dame/USC
4. Auburn
5. Florida
6. West Virginia
7. Oklahoma
8. Georgia
9. Michigan
10. Texas
I put Michigan in there strictly on what team shows up to play this year. If Henne decides to have an off season again then I don't think theres any chance they will be top 10. But if Hart stays healthy and Henne has a decent season, they will be top 10 material. |
