WOW... it is over? |
|
|
For some reason I though the season ended next Sunday, and as such I never played any Pro League games this season. Not sure how it happened, but the way I train usually let's me know the season is coming to an end (full on Friday, benchies on Saturday, full on Sunday).. but this season it was backwards somehow.. (I probably forgot to train one day)
1) I appologize fully to anyone that might have been affected by this in the league I was in, this was my first time ever in 5 years of not playing all/any of my games
2) It's over, the time has come. It's obvious I have not cared enough about Smallball for a while if I don't even follow when the seasons start and end. I always wanted to get that 10th PL1 badge first, and I kept "trying" until someone else did but it just was not meant to be. I just honestly can't see myself start from outside the Pro Leagues again to play a game I just don't care about anymore. Csirkepasztorok FC I pass the "crown" on to you uncontested. You quietly (but I always knew) assumed 9 PL1 badges, and you are back in 1st league. Good luck on getting #10, please do it soon and put 10103 out of their misery.
As for staying around the forums... I will continue on for a bit, but with so many new projects for me, I am not sure how long I can wait for SmallBall hockey. I was promised 2006, but as we know that won't happen. Also what once started as a volunteer position has turned to something I am obviously not being compensated for after 4 years.
Now I just have to decide if I am going to keep training 10103, let them die or possibly let someone AT them.
It sucks, I was not ready to make this post yet, but the time has come.
Good Luck all _________________ 11 time PL1 Champion |

| Sad to hear but I understand your point. I just can't imagine what this forum will be like without your hard work and tremendous dedication, should that time come. |

Wow. Hate to hear that GW. You've always been The Man for these forums and while we don't ever say it, we really do appreciate all the hard work I know must go into them. Heaven's knows I couldn't do it.
Thanks for all you've done and continue to do and best of luck on all your other ventures. Sorry to hear it's come to this, but I completely understand. |

| I hope that even if you retire as Forum God, you still train your team, even if just casually. They were always a benchmark for how to be, how to play. I'll miss your presence, even if I never personally had talks with you, you always were there :-p |

whoa....
I think a few people might have read my crappy writing wrong and have misunderstood me.
I AM retiring from training, in fact my team has a holiday ticket it already (no sabs or Retirement for Footy as of yet)
But as for the forums (Admin), I am staying around for a little bit... just not sure how long. I am waiting to see what The Commish has planned for the rest of the year before deciding.
Hope that clears it up a little

Wow GW that kinda sucks. I took on my footy team with the hopes of one day playing against you and actually scoring a goal.....at least one. I completely understand your decision. Just still kind of in shock I guess.
You could always go back to baseball. Just kidding. I know your thoughts on that. Just couldnt resist. I'm glad you are sticking around the forums. Just sorry this happened the way it did. _________________ "The desire to be a champion is not nearly as persuasive as the commitment to be a champion" |

My first post in the Football Forum.
Probably will be my last. Too much into BaseBall
I understand completely what GW is saying. I won't miss playing your teams GW, because I don't play Football. So why am I here? LOL
I just wanted to express my sadness that you have lost the passion you once had in training your teams. Recently, I've noticed some long timers leaving the game. I hope that is not your ultimate intention but it sounds like it's going that direction. Alot of people are looking for improvements in the game and SB has been neglected or should I say "lacking improvement". You take out alot of time to let the community know what is going on. As far as I can tell you are one of the very few that has some type of connection to Commish. Once you are gone, who are we going to rely on when we have problems? (Not that we should be relying on you but you've been there when the going gets rough). And sad that we have had to rely on you to get heard! You have not been compensated appropriately for the work you do around here and I know you've been there to cover Commish in the past. So I completely understand your decision and dread the thought of possibly not seeing you around in the future. But really, Who can say they blame you? I remember about a month or so ago, Commish came back to the game and posted about how the focus would be to improve Football and Bat Gurl was coming back to help. And recently, I found out about the move over to Nokia (I think you know what I'm talking about there as well). I'm not one to hoist complaints but there has been an unwritten understanding that the structure as well as the chain of command isn't as it once was. I fear the day that comes when GW isn't around. It's a cry for help in a world gone mad! _________________

That's unfortunate GW. You were a legend amonst the small football population we currently have. It's a shame how such a great game with great players can be left wandering on its own. I don't blame you for losing that spark for the game to try and get back up there. _________________ XsT | TA# 1.1 | -.- | XXI | $2856.82 (10/27)

Sad to see you stop playing, GW. Hopefully you can help sort us out of this SmallBall Slump before you have to leave because of other obligations. _________________ Founder of the SBPA

Time comes and goes for many, shame the one that 'i had' thought would always be around seems to have had enough.
Glad you've achieved all you had wanted with and without this game here, and i hope you'll still be around to pester us when we step out of line.
Shame we never really saw eye to eye, but regardless lad, if you're ever in my neck of Canada, a cold beer will always be offered. _________________ "Chairman Mao has never seen a greater show of red strength." Bill Shankly

Not a big issue.. but in case anyone cares/notices I did not put another Holiday ticket on 10103 even though i had a pile left over.
It's officially over and I can truly say, I don't miss it at all.
it's kinda cool not having to train every day.
Good luck to those who stick it out. _________________ 11 time PL1 Champion |
