I know what I am doing! I have some to catch up on. We can build football and its community together. What could you do to help? Run a tournament, run a UL? Make a FAQ post? Help newbs, have chat meetings. Come on, I can help you help me help you! Post not what smallball should do for you, but what you will do for smallball.

although small in number, the football community is quite strong with many dedicated trainers and players. we can do anything we set our minds to but it won't make a lick of difference if the site isn't updated and the team pages aren't current. we've been looking at stagnant pages forever now and still we train and play our games. what more do you need from us other than a commitment written in our own blood?
i will donate full access team tickets, resurrect the champions league and provide help for newbies if you get our site updated and active again!
i and many others like me have also provided some ideas on how to make football more marketable and user friendly so as to maintain owners. i've provided the links below so you don't have to go searching for them;
http://www.forums.smallball.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=50463
it's nice to know we haven't been abandoned, just keep in touch with us a little more often in future and we'll be a lot happier.

There are many strong leagues in play that aren't in these forums. I think that the Footie community is trying their hardest to keep things going...especially Steel Dog, Tim's, Barbarian and a few others. But when the PL pages aren't updated for the WHOLE season, there's really not much we can do about that.
I'm sure I don't do very much for the football community, but I feel I have a presence in it, at the very least. That's something. _________________ "I can resist anything except temptation" - Oscar Wilde |

In all honesty.. to me I think Smallball Football simply needs more press and to be updated a little more regularly.
The potential for a great seller is there.. However, no one is going to invest alot of money in a game thats not being updated as its "sisster" game is. _________________ http://sbdevils.com/forum/ and http://smallball.info The only forums you'll ever need. |

| I'd like to get the non-paying players involved more, but its hard when they can't initiate games. If they coould play like 10 games a season we could set up ULs with PL Players, try your hand against the best! Barring that we could ask for requests for games and the FA teams could play them if the stars weren't too far apart. If we can get the free teams involved maybe we get them to buy full access. If we were able to set up a tournament for non-paying players I'd swing for a FA ticket as a prize. Can this be done? |

Please make the footy website like the baseball website! It would be so much easier to navigate, and what about PL1 badges... _________________

| I dont think many more people would be willing to commit their own time to the game (other than the ones that allready do) until they see some commintment from the people who run the game. |

i agree
ive put too much time into FB to see such a lil commitment from those who run the game. Intil more is done why should i waste more of my time nad money on it.
I think if this game was advertised internationally it could really flourish. So multi lingula website for european nations could be quite profitable to helping this game attract new owners _________________ Season 69 PL 1 Football Champion 56882 LCD Dynasty

The more I think about this the more I agree. SmallBall Football is so screwed we didn't know if it would survive and you want us to fix it? I may have to seriously rethink my involvment. |

Wow, just saw this post...and although I don't play footie, I couldn't help but just say... THIS IS THE BIGGEST BS OF A POST I HAVE EVER SEEN. This goes beyond the fact that Commish should be ashamed...but even shows a total and complete disregard for the fact that he should be. It takes a big set of kahones to disregard a product for so long, disregard the people who use it...and then have the nerve to stop in and say "Oh, btw, I haven't shown you an ounce of commitment, as a matter of fact, my involvement, customer service and public relations for both sports is at an all time low...but I'm willing to offer you the chance to do something for yourselves to help my business." Just WOW. _________________

100% completely agree. Do something about the game for 1st time in like a good 2 months before you tell everyone else what to do big fella.
It's pretty bad when your 1st post back after 2 months is telling the dedicated owners to basically do it themselves. Don't think you needed to tell them that, they probably already knew.

- SmallBall has always had tournies and leagues run by the community, those are the best ones anyways since who can do it better than someone who knows the game and the players?
- I agree that support with either SmallBall sport has been poor to none especially lately and this is the 1st thing that needs to be fixed.
- I think commish knows he needs to do something and he is evidentally, by the nature of this thread, attempting to "fix" things, or at least make them better.
Maybe we should just see this as a better late than never kind of thing?
As far as what I can do, Well I can offer to help fb in the same ways SBCA is already attempting to help baseball. _________________

In all honesty Commish, Steel Dog, Barbarian, Tim and myself run a total of 6 footy leagues with some damn strong communities. I'll admit that mine is the weakest of the 6, but I know that it takes a helluva lot of effort to run a league, and these three guys do an excellent job at it. Their league have never broke down, they've never faltered, and they're ALWAYS full (well.. minus Italian Series, but it's close). We have a very strong football community, its not just here. And when you think of it, why should it be. It seems like nobody gives a damn about the game here. Why shouldn't we go to other forums where we can be competitive and post our thoughts/games/everything else and have people actually notice?
The truth is, even if we moved our leagues here or moved our communities here, we'd still be copilot to baseball. I don't know if that's what you want to happen, but for a guy like me who doesnt have the time or computer capabilities to play baseball anymore, footballs the one online thing that I've got for fun. And nobody can take that away from me, and the 40 or so other guys that make up the outside leagues. _________________ Not now John

He's asking for involvement from the community and is willing to help at the same time. Promote the game, get money to support the game from the gaming community. That is what I was gathering. Sure it came off a little harsh but how many people have been ripping him apart recently and even going as far as a protest petition. In some cases rightfully so, and yes SmallBall has many issues. We all have our concerns for the game. What would alot of us do if it wasn't around? It can't be "Here Commish fix this, Here Commish fix that." You can please some of the people some of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time. Sure I would love to see alot of the bugs fixed but if the Community keeps saying they aren't going to spend money on SB then there isn't money to hire people to fix the game. If no money is spent SmallBall will die and the community will die with it. _________________

I'm going to go back to my 1st post, what if SB allowed non paid teams to play in a UL opened by a paid PL player, say 9 games a season, so it would work like a mini PL. We would need PL players to run the UL and have one or more PL player in each UL, beat the pros or whatever. It would take some work from smallball and I have no idea how much. The non paying teams could only play the set number of UL games, no others without paying.
Anyone think this would work? We've all vented, maybe we should try to be a little positive about this.

I agree but what i beleive everyone else it trying to say is that the football community that exsists is allready very involved and that involement cant progress without a bit of help from Commish first |

Ok
how about some people to run some new ULs? I can make at least 10 more but they have to be active.
how about some people to run some open ended tournaments and contests? Remember Batgirl? Like that. I can provide some "prize tickets"
I understand your bitterness - lets see if we can turn it around.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for the help and honest feedback. _________________ For Customer Care please email: Support@SmallBall.org |

| Is my idea about getting non-paying players involved in the ULs even remotely possible? I really think if we can get the non-paying players involved it can only help the future. |

I say, if football has lots of tournaments every week, and lots of UL's... i will definately consider football as a good smallball sport... but right now, i dont want a football team. Lets all get together and make smallball football a great smallball sport like it should be! _________________

Redbirds, Commish was in OSBC and already told us a new stad (air) is ont he way and so is a footy one, IMO we have plenty of stads, time to work on the game itself. _________________
