A total n00b question.

Is it a good idea to play some games early on to help determin what your team needs the extra training in.. or is it better to just train without worrying about how they do in games?

MAYBE that will make some sense to someone lol Embarassed

It's good to look at your games, no matter what sport it is. So yes. Very Happy

You'll really learn your team once they are starting to be competetive, but not yet maxed out in most skills.

Each season, experiment with new formations and different positions for players. For the past 4 seasons, I've been putting new formations for each of my teams to see how they respond. Some only work well with 4-4-2, while a couple of my teams really excel with 5-4-1, I have found though, that my teams are dreadful with 4-3-3 or 3-3-4 -- formation I think, is the biggest key to your team's success. If you have an aggressive forward who loves just taking the ball and driving with it, use a 5-4-1 to get him more of the scoring oppurtunities -- if you've got a pair of forwards that work well together and generate chances that way, use the 4-4-2. Again, finding your formation is what I feel is most important to your team's success. I had a team that was at 4-4-2 for 3 seasons, going nowhere, and when I switched them to 5-4-1, they lost only 1 big league game against 9*s, while winning 15 and got promoted to 2nd league.

Just that fact that it's quick is what makes it fun, in my opinion. I don't know about anyone else, but I hate that I have to sit through 45+ minutes of a BB game just to watch my team lose. In FB, I can watch them win in 10 minutes! Not to mention, it gives you more reason to watch your games since they're not as long and boring, thus, you get to learn your team much better.

It will most definitely be tough to win against high rated teams until you are in a good 40th spot or higher on the 8* list though.

You're right about the game times. I love the fact its 10 minutes in comparison to anywhere from 30-50 for a BB game.. Makes it ALOT easier to want to sit there and watch instead of TS all the way through it.

He thought people wouldn't understand it. He forgot that there are complex minded thinkers on SB.
