Dumb question about contact hitting Subject description: Probabbly shouldnt ask this |

When you guys start a new DT team.. and you do contact for the first time.. do you also use the power cage as well as the contact cage? You know, 1 guy in each to take less time training.
I mean, if you dont make contact, doesnt the power cage give you decent contact gains aswell? _________________ http://sbdevils.com/forum/ and http://smallball.info The only forums you'll ever need. |

I don't even train power for any player until they either max in contact or achieve contact 80-85% of the time. That said, I have not measured contact gains from the power cage, nor have I measured their contact % before - trained in power - and then reviewed the contact % for improvement.
But, I would be very interested to hear from someone who has and what their results are. _________________ sbdevils.com |

I think that maybe player genetics have a little to play into it too. I have one guy on my team that is piss poor in power. He just won't gain any power to save his life. His hitting in the 90% in contact and stays near maxed. But when I run him through the power he cage he gets very little power. Usually about a 2/1 contact/power gain even with a full pie.
From the start up of a team I usually do a one day contact cage, one day power cage till they start to gain skill and I can see who my power hitters might be and who my contact hitters are. But that's just me and I'm not that good so take it for what it's worth. (Kelly Blue Book value $0.005) _________________ PickYourPony

I am trying that with the new team I started a few weeks ago while playing around. I NEVER used the contact cage at all, I went straight to power. The amazing thing with the power cage is even if you miss every time you will get massive additions to your contact, more so then your power.
Just yesterday I decided to throw the person on the top of my contact sort list in the contact cage and after just three full pies in the power cage, he has a 62% contact and also has power. I think that is very reasonable if you ask me, even more so if you think that I never trained contact. On a team I worked with the contact cage first, after three pies I was only at 55% with my top rated guy and of course had no power.
I wouldn't do that ith a high star team maybe, but when you are just building up, it seems to work just as well as time spent in the contact cage. I think it might be a learning curve type of thing. Only my opinion based on the one team I tried it on of course. |

well, iand it has worked for me although after the first two times they gain power more trmeoundously. if i wanted to train all my team in contact and use both cages i would just use some FPS to help out (although i'm not entirely sure it works every time) _________________ 484371 9*

I train in the power cage for contact with my power hitters who don't reatin contact well enough. If i was starting a new team i think i would train half and half.
I have noticed that while contact is gained there are poorer skill gains than in the contact cage. I've also noticed that lefties don't retain skill that well on either of my teams, but they retain contact and power when trained in the power cage. _________________ Small Wolves
