I started here October 20th and today November 18th I just reached 9*. I have no idea what so ever possesed me too but after training when I refreshed my screen I pumped a fist and said yes. Am I like some strange weirdo like the one that I think I am, or is this normal, that when you reach 9* for the first time you get so excited?

Am I the only one that has ever gotten excited by it?

Then I guess pumping a fist and yelling yeah is not out of the league in the excitement department. ~L~

I am just amazed how quick it was, I read so much on how long it took.

DT 9* is not so much to brag about. It is so easy to get them to 9* withing a month. Now try training a ST team to 9* within a month.

I think a couple of people around here have done it.

OMG! Just because you've trained to 9* with a few of your ST teams doesn't mean that you can rain on somebody elses parade. Stop smelling yourself. Rolling Eyes

Ok when people rap on me they don't get yelled at, but then when I do it then I get yelled at? Think hmmm seems kind of unreasonable there.

And if ST 9* is not such a great accomplishment then just stop telling people that it is ok???

You get it?

Hey I think ST 9* is kick butt, that doesn't mean you should shoot me down cause I am DT. I traded for an st team 2 weeks ago and I have it up to 7* and plan tto take it all the way if the fates have me do that..... making an ST high, as I saw it, takes more time..... but does not make it harder....

I didn't shoot you down.

You should look in jagriff's post and read it carefully.

I said the first 9* is always great.

Just kidding I actually can't.

Well, the first 9* is always great, but not really, with DT.

Now if it was ST it would be a different story.

Now from Beginners Forum:

See quotes in bold. If you were trying for comedy I sure hope you don't want to make a living as a comedian. Let's see, not really great, not so much to brag about, sure seems like you were shooting him down to me.

Once you get a ST team to get to pl3 and be competitive ( RIP Shizhou Lou, Zachery) then it is an accomplishment (with ST), Zachery has even been a 10* before.By the way, congratulations SB_Knights.

SB_Knights, I was similarly happy when I hit nine stars. I didn't post about it, but I was tempted too.

It obviously is an accomplishment, because you are awarded a badge for it that never goes away. I think that is Commish's way of saying "well done".

I do not wish to rain on your parade, but you did a little more than just get dt....ive played you and you have 7 lefties...and by your power numbers, it seems you bought a few skill tiks too.

Yeap, brought a few lefties and SR's and even won a free SR (the free SR was a lefty too, I had brought 5 lefty tickets to make my team a half and half team). But the SR's really didn't help much being I used one when I was 6* already and the one I got free was when I was 7* just days before I hit 8*. The SR that helped me was the first one I got when I was 3* (he became my pitcher). My big mistake was never finding my pitcher.

There is nothing wrong with buying or trading for tickets.

As for skill tickets, nope. I have never used a skill ticket on this team, unless you count the free one on the news, which being I had only two hours since training didn't do much at all.

Nothing wrong with being excited when you hit a milestone. but just dont remember.. you dont have to get excited about every little milestone.. b/c there will be alot along the way.

first HR, first 9*, first ST 9*, etc..

I don't think I remember my first HR, but I think I'll remember the first DT 9*, I have an ST 7* now, hope to make that 9* one of these days to. That will most likely excite me too.

I was just amazed how excited I was over a game. This game is so addictive.

Lil_Smit = Always trying to start something bad with others

SB_Knights = Always trying to help others (when he can, since he hasn't been around these parts or awhile.......btw he helped me believe it or not)

that there is a great way to think why people treat others differently

Oh and I forgot (plz look at my sig Lil_Smit.....you try to help.....with all the wrong ideas)

SB_Knights,
Is this your first smallball team ? I have to agree, the first time you reach 9* is a rush!! I was excited the first time I got to 8*. Took me a year to reach that. Embarassed It's embarrassing to think about now. Being new to smallball and knowing nothing about training it can take forever to reach 9*.
Lil_Smit18 is right that 9* can be reached in a month once you know what you're doing, but not for someone just starting out who knows nothing about training a smallball team. I'm betting his first team didn't do it in a month without outside help and tips from other players.

Yes, it was my frist team. I only trained for 2 days without really knowing what I was doing however. I found the boards right away and read everything I could get my hands on it. I took what I could from it and worked with that. So I guess I had a hell of a lot of help along the way all thanks to the great people here that are so helpful. Laughing The only major mistake I think I made along the way was never finding my pitcher. I started out using the guy that was slotted first. I am sure that happens to most new players. Heck, I am still trying to find my pitcher. Laughing

I will say one thing for sure. If I had taken the time to find my pitcher it would have taken a lot longer. I've had my second created team for 6 weeks now, and it is only 8* because I wasted three weeks maxing everyone in pitching and throwing first. Laughing

Well, that being your first team you should be proud.
And time spent finding the right pitchers is never wasted time.
Two to three weeks is not out of line for finding them. It's time well spent and will payoff down the road. Don't forget, it's never to late to find pitchers for a team. Just go through the whole routine again. It will set you back for a while but it's worth it. I just did it recently with one of my teams and found one pitcher was the wrong one. My new pitcher can max in pitching using 1/4 pie after 2 days of no pitch training. That leave a lot of t/p to use elsewhere.

I am doing that now, each season, I'll take out one player and max him in pitch and give him a tester. This season seems like a winner so far. I have a guy I took out that might be one of the good guys. Hey, if anything I only waste one bench spot and I am only in PL8 so I can spare a little bit of time. I'll find my pitcher sooner or later. Laughing

What I look for when searching for my pitchers is the two that retain the skill the longest and need the least training (t/p) in pitching. I also prefer to train the whole team in pitching at the same time to find them. It's a time consuming process though. It can be a pain waiting 3 hours to finish one training session.

What I look for when searching for my pitchers is the two that retain the skill the longest and need the least training (t/p) in pitching. I also prefer to train the whole team in pitching at the same time to find them. It's a time consuming process though. It can be a pain waiting 3 hours to finish one training session.

I do that now when I start a new team. I have since started 3 new teams, and all of them have went through that. The only thing more annoying then three hour sessions is that first session in training contact when you know there is at least one guy that is never going to make contact even once. Laughing

Congrats man. Keep up the hard work and it is only a matter of time before 9* is there.
