I lived in NYC for half my life...

I used to be a pretty big Yankee fan but I changed during the Subway World Series...

But the Yanks are still my second fav team. And I still dislike the Red Sux just as much before, same with Pats.

Ditto...though I used to like the Pats not too long ago.
It's all NY for me except I like the Yankees, Giants and Knicks better. Nets going NY too right?

mlb- Yankees - not my fault, first team i was taken to see
nba- Spurs - won $300 in a sweepstake in '99, supported them ever since
nhl - pathetic game, not even worthy of television time or even supprt, played by mindless morons with so little skill they have to fight.........get a proper job!
nfl - Bengals - Boomer's still great
mls - this should be outlwaed and never be called football, a bunch of has beens walking around pretending to be competititve in a league where all the teams are owned by the same man. Truly awful.

Note: European football leagues are the only leagues worth watching. I'm a Wolverhampton Wanderers fan for the record.

"There ARE no other sports" !!!

MLB - Houston Astros
NFL - Carolina Panthers
NHL - Watch it when we get coverage every now and then but no fave team
MLS - No comment
NBA - Houston Rockets (but don't follow the NBA)
NCAA football - Love watching this but no certain one favourite.

English 'Soccer' - Middlesbrough FC

Don't have home teams for the first 6 I listed so I can pick and choose! Laughing

Respect to all those that follow all their home teams. Cool

lol...I take it that you've never actually watched a full game, have you? No skill? Are you kidding? Try skating on thin blades pushing around a small hunk of rubber with a stick, trying to get it into a goal with someone almost the same size as the goal protecting it and THEN tell me the players have no skill. And have to fight? I've watched around half a dozen games this season and there has been one fight. All sports fight, it's only that it's allowed in hockey.

Yes i've had the unfortunate pleasure of sitting through an entire Devils game some years ago. I was so bored i left early. Truly awful game. It has little skill as a game because of the very reasons you have mentione, skating on blades is learnt by children and once mastered becomes second nature. There are very little tactics and brute force is constantly used.

All sports may fight but this is the only one where there is an 'enforcer' on the team who has the only dubious position of trying to disrupt the opposition by fighting! That's skill is it?

Georgy: Typical comment from the ignorant, if you've ever been to a proper game of football (soccer, is a name for the ignorant) you will realise the tactics and skills are superior to hockey and can be taken into basketball and many other sports.

Its fluid and there are over 4 billion peolpe that play it!!!!!!!

How many people play hockey? Come back with a proper argument Wink

Well there you go. You base whether hockey is a decent game on a Devils game? Back when you saw them, they were a trap defense team. Yeah, I watched one game of soccer. There was so much tripping and just bad passing. That must be how EVERY game is played.

That may have been true many years ago, but even the "enforcers" have a high level of skill these days.

That's the determination of whether a sport is entertaining or not? Whether the skills needed can be translated into other sports? As much as Georgy or I am ignorant of soccer (I know little of the game, I admit), you're obviously ignorant of hockey.

lol...that's your proper argument? That more people play soccer? Now, let's look at that LOGICALLY. Why do you think that is? Why would more people play soccer than hockey? For soccer, all you need is a ball (not even! you can use anything round!) and something to call a goal on two ends. We used to use jackets to make goal posts when we were kids.

For hockey, you need skates for everyone, ice, sticks, pucks and goals. It's really an unrealistic comparison and to say that's a proper argument is just....well, silly. More people play Rock Paper Scissors than play soccer. I guess RPS is a MUCH superior game...at least by your definition.

For the record, I don't doubt that soccer requires a high level of skill and strategery. But to say that hockey is just a brutes game after having seen one game is just...just....no comment.
