Quick question.. Subject description: PLEASE PLEASE forgive me for asking this!! |

I'm sorry.. I know this is a terribly basic question.. But for some reason I'm having problems finding it with search
When I'm trying to "find my pitcher," once they start hitting .01's, they're maxed, right? So once all my players are hitting .01's, I can go to my pitching order and find who is best, right?
I know this is a terribly basic question but for SOME reason.. Maybe I was using the wrong search queries.. _________________ 518746 8* :: 448488 5* :: 481184 6* :: 524595 7* :: 524554 6* :: 521190 6* -- Darmin

Yeah that means they are maxed, but I dont really understand the question.
Ive heard that the best way to find your pitcher is to use a pitching skill ticket when they spawn and then take the 5 best pitchers and narrow down from there.. keep training their pitching and go from 5 to 3 and eventually 2, I believe thats the idea.
Im not an expert myself but Ive heard many experts say dont go by mph pitch speeds.. narrow down to the best 2 and as long as they dont lose their pitching skill too fast that means they are most likely the 2 best for the job. I hope this helps. _________________ Sphere of Influence - 491504

(Some of those guys, such as Darin, I had trained some earlier in the day, but didn't have time to finish, so that's why they've only got like +3 :p)
So I'm training them in pitch, and Galdar has jumped way up the list.. I'm thinking he might actually BE my pitcher, because after I started training him he just jumped RIGHT up to second.
But for people like Dalamar -- you can see the .01, and yet he's still near the bottom of the list. So by what you said (and correct me if I'm wrong), he's maxed and he's just probably not going to get any better. So I can very easily scratch his name off the list of possible pitchers.
But some of those people haven't maxed -- so I should continue to train them in pitching to see what it gives them? Especially Galdar, I would think, since (as I mentioned before) he is currently 2nd and still has not maxed. _________________ 518746 8* :: 448488 5* :: 481184 6* :: 524595 7* :: 524554 6* :: 521190 6* -- Darmin

I feel your pain Ive delt with 6-7 different pitchers in the proleagues until Ive finally found 1 good one but not the other. Point is your best pitchers will pick up the skill easiest.. yet +17 for galdar means nothing unless you had a player with the exact same pitching skill whos trained the same amount each day to compare it to.. on the first day of pitcher training its not uncommon to see guys get +24..
Anyway theres one scary thing.. you may think you found the right guy but really havent.. and you may have wasted potetntial playing in the wrong position.. Bottom line is numbers can give you an idea.. certain things are key tells but until galdar pitches a good season against good teams its anyones guess.. just watchout for how much pitching skill he loses each game.. if its a lot hes not your guy.. a lot is 2+ _________________ Sphere of Influence - 491504

I would say the same amount he loses in the time it takes to play a game. The key is how much skill a pitcher loses over time, not a game. If players lost skill each game don't you think PL1 teams would be awful? Do you see how much they get challenged? _________________

Yeah that was a typo sorry I meant to say "over a day" not game... I had my mind on something else.
I do have a theory that may TP does not regenerate during INITIATED games but I have no clue if that is true. _________________ Sphere of Influence - 491504

Thanks SOI, you've got a really good point.. Until he PERFORMS well, I guess I can't call him "THE" pitcher!! My current one pitches ok and doesn't lose his pitch TOO fast..
But then again, when I first started this team, I didn't take the time to sit down and find what I needed to find. (And I know that finding your pitcher isn't the greatest thing to START doing when you're in the PL's, but oh well ).
I should've done this a heck of a lot sooner. _________________ 518746 8* :: 448488 5* :: 481184 6* :: 524595 7* :: 524554 6* :: 521190 6* -- Darmin

Finding your true pitcher.
I didn't do this until I was like an 8* star.
By this time you should have at least one pitcher.
Train all your pitchers in pitch for a few days until the .01 start to come up. This doesn't matter he is maxed yet. The next time he gains skill might be +1. So leave it alone for awhile. Then take your top 2 pitchers. Start training them every other day to find out who is the best. What you want to get is the fastest pitcher with the most amount of skill held. My pitcher on 513219, the same pitcher from when I created the team, throws about 114-117. Not all pitchers throw this fast. Don't worry they still might be good pitchers. Make sure you give both pitchers about equal amount of games of around the same skilled teams. Take the best one and there is your pitcher. _________________
