New Gas Price Gripe! |
|
|
Well, today was the first time i've ever seena line-up to buy gas.......EVER!!.
Yesterday in Chatham Ontario gas went to $C1.79/ litre, and nearby Woodstock was over $C2.00/ litre. With the incoming storm nearing Texas, the local gas gauging has begun....this time before the storm has hit.
I filled up early this morning at $C1.04/ litre, was bloody pathetic seeing it go over $C70 for the tank.
Anyway, another gripe to tick us off. Seriously tho, i'd hate to have to commute to Toronto everyday (40mins roughly each way in traffic).

| In the UK you get lines to buy petrol very few years when prices get to high and some group threatens to bloke off the refinery. Last major one was in 2000 and there was one two weeks ago. |

Lines or prices is the way it is now. You can't have both. |

Never in my life have I seen a line up for gas at 1.04. The last line up I remember was when a gas station had some kind of free gas offer, the line ups were obviously very rediculious. But this is just mayhem. I can't believe resorting to waiting in line to spend $1.04/litre of gas, but I guess people tend to want to fill up before the prices go up to $2.30 tommorow. |

I paid $2.58 a Gal today in SC and there was a short line, but mostly because you have to pay now before you pump, which is great. No gas drive-offs any more. _________________

Losing 25% of the refineries shouldn't increase the price by 100%. I bet the prices rise about 25% to around $3.75. I say only premium tops $4.00.
The problem is, I heard St. Louis get its gas from those refineries in TX, so price increases could be worse in certain areas. Good thing my tank's full. I'll try not to buy gas for a couple of weeks. |

Dropped... rather much today.
(From $2.98 two days ago to $2.81 today) Although I'm sure it'll rise again very soon. _________________ XsT | TA# 1.1 | -.- | XXI | $2856.82 (10/27)

Around here it's down to slightly under $3.00 for the cheap stuff. Glad that it's starting to fall a bit. _________________

if you compare the price of gas to other things, that can be sold by the gallon, it's relatativaly cheap. But I still think thats its way too high _________________ Devastators 514243 9* 10.2 Honor

Discussion at work lately that. BUT, compared to Milk bread butter etc. we don't tend to buy 75Litres of it in 1 shot (we average 60L a week of Milk, but have 5 children).
Easier to buy $20 of milk than spend the same on Gas, and usually the price of daily needs tend to stay put for a longer period of time. Especially as we know the big companies are rising the prices whenever they feel. _________________ "Chairman Mao has never seen a greater show of red strength." Bill Shankly

Are you saying your family of 7 drinks 60 liters of milk a week?
Just speaking on volume, we probably consume more gasoline than anything. Wow, I never thought of that, but thats disturbing. I bet some people use more gas than water. |

Yes we go thru tonnes of milk. Not hard to see a 4L bag disappear during a meal. And when evening comes and the babies want to goto sleep, they usually have 2 full bottles of milk before they doze off properly.
Older kids don't drink pop, so milk/ fruit juice is what they tend to drink. I bet we go 2-3 times/ week to the store for milk and bread. _________________ "Chairman Mao has never seen a greater show of red strength." Bill Shankly

That is a lot of milk, but at least your kids do not live off soda pop like a lot of kids do these days. _________________
