Saturday, Sept. 17 @ 8:00 p.m. -- TV: CBS
"The Swamp" -- Gainesville, Fla.

Wanted to get this debate off early. Big game IMO mainly b/c of the rivalry but also b/c I get to watch 2 great teams square off this week! I pick Tennessee of course but I never underestimate those Gators, I know they have a mean bite

Lets look at this two ways.

Number 1, Tennessee had a hard time taking care of UAB, Ten coul dhave easily lost that one in the end.

Number 2, Florida has yet to play anyone with any substance (has UT, will UAB be a good team this season, or did the Vols struggle against a middle of the pack C-USA team)

Battles, inside the Battle

QB (s) edge goes to Florida
WRs Edge goes to Florida
RBs Edge goes to UT
Special Teams, edge goes to Florida
Defense edge goes to UT

Usually, Id say Florida would walk in this one, but UT comes in with the better defensive unit. If UT can keep this one a defensive slug-fest they could be able to get away with a victory.. Iff this turns into a shootout, UF wins by 14

Looking forward to that game. It will be slightly more compelling than our game against La. Monroe. Rolling Eyes Go Vols!

Wow...honsestly didn,t expect that one from Beaner. I think if we keep Rick Clausen in there it will be a whole new story. Ainge got the start against UAB and struggled throughout the game with horrid accuracy so I hope old Phil can make the right choice here since losing to Florida would bring down team morale big time.

I always liked Ainge better, last year he was amazing in a few games (watched one in person Rolling Eyes ). I don't understand what he is doing/or what his problem is, but he has a lot of potential.

GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!

Florida will come into this one with the D that everybody doesn't expect them to have this year, not allowing over 200 total yards florida will win this one 35-3..... That is my prediction, I was raised a Gator fan and will always support my team, no matter if they win or lose, I will always be their for them

There is no way Tennessee's D will give up that many, sorry bud but it will be a defensive struggle like the Miami game 2 years ago against Tennessee.

Just read in the Tennessean that Clausen will get the starting nod on Saturday, but will work both into the game at sometime.

Also, only game I watched last time, Ainge went out after the half. Confused

Also mlthmp, I don't know much about the Florida recievers, but Tennessee's recieving crew may not have a big go-to guy, but we have 5 solid guys out there whenever needed. Bret Smith has made some of the most spectacular catches I've ever seen.

We have one of the best D-back crew in the nation, and hope to neutralize Leak's passing ability.

My guess.

Tennessee - 20
Florida - 14

Well I agree with you on the reciever part BP, we do have alot of great guys but I like Chris Hannon especially because of his speed, his 40 time is the best in Tennessee history so I would love to see him get some seperation on the hail mary that I know we will probably need to use to beat Florida like always. Rolling Eyes 24-21 Tenn.

Please note everyone, I never actually picked a winner.. I said "If this turns into a shootout, UF wins by 14"

This one is just too close to call really, because both teams look good in all aspects of the game.. If I had to pick it righ tnow (which I dont, but what the hey, I will anyway)

Florida - 28
Tennessee - 23

Sorry guys, I hate Florida, I can NOT stand they guys, but im just not sold on UT just yet.

Comon man, get a grip, UF should win,. but 35-3 what are you taking, how much and how much does it cost Shocked

Florida better win. I got 5 bucks on them. They better beat Tenn by 7 because Tenn is getting six.

Also Clemson gotta lose by 6 or win cuz I got 5 on them too.

I'd be surprised if Clausen pickle stayed in very long. He'll sour early.

It shouldn't shock you that I would be rooting for the Vols. I'm a Gator Hater through and through. Plus, I want those Vols undefeated when we play them.

2 Quarterbacks=Lose

Ohio State proved it last week. Ohio State should have killed Texas. Im a old fashion guy, i like my QB to be able to throw, and just scramble when he is under pressure. The rest of ohio/nation hates Zwick for his fumble, but smith would have ran the ball and took the same chance.

Back to the game in hand. If they use 2 quarterbacks in a close game, they lose. The quarterbacks will worry too much about not making a mistake, and ruin the game for themselves.

I have no prediction, but i still want Ut too win.

I totally agree Snyder but I hope that Ainge gets some time, just not much. He is only a Sophomore so he will have time to get better but Clausen has spent more time in this system. As a Senior I think he has more leadership skills so quite frankly he should be our man and let Ainge get some experience here and there.

Hmm..

David Greene and D.J. Shockley shared snaps in 2002 and won the SEC title.

2000, Rox Grossman and Jesse Palmer shared snaps in Florida. They won the SEC title.

1999, Andrew Zow and Tyler Watts shared snaps for Alabama's SEC championship.

Danny Wuerffel and Terry Dean shared snaps during the 1993 season when they won SEC championship.

Did they split series equally, i dont recall them doing that. Ohio state split 7 series with smith, 7 for Zwick. As i sayed before, i hate Smiths gameplay. Im a old fashion dropp back and pass, get in a rythm type of guy.

Ill put it is easier terms for you....

Teams with 1 primary quarterback have about a 98.9% more National Championship game wins, and Confernce Title game wins, than those teams with 2 primary quarterbacks.

Well I knew the win streak wouldn't last long in this series since it normally doesn't but I'm just glad our first loss is an early one and not a heartbreaker at the end of the season. One thing Florida will need to workon ALOT is discipline, they had a ton of penalties tonight.

I am a huge gator fan and all but I wouldn't say that, They aren't that great of a team this year, even if they make it they would have 2 beat USC and that would be a tougher challenge than most thought Tenn. was.... But I must say....... Chris Leak=Heismen Trophy Shocked ..... Just my opinion.... I beleive he can do it if he plays like he has these first 3 games.... Chris Leak had a pretty good game, Im loving Urban Meyers and his offense cuz it gets chris leak to show his speed and do something *Cough* Ron Zook *Cough* wouldn't let him do much.... Kaotic you are right about Leak's talent, he was getting sacked left and right by us but never quit and connected over and over, Florida showed up with more heart against a bigger team. I can't say that i'm happy about that but I can say that you are in for a good season. This rivalry is the past for me now until next year in Knoxville so I am now focused on LSU and anticipating yet another tough road game. Mad

After losing to Notre Dame I stopped paying attention to them, never liked Michigan anyways Wink and Lew, the refs made some great calls and I think that was the best officiating I have seen in a long time.

The Shockley/Greene situation at Georgia was a bit different. There was never any doubt that Greene was the man. Shockley appeared in games on a very limited basis.

Fulmer definitely needs to focus on one guy or the other. Tennessee had the talent to win that game, but the QB switching seemed to cause them to be unable to establish any kind of rhythm.

It seems that our games against both these teams will be good ones. Neither Tennessee nor Florida really blew my mind, and Georgia seems to be on about the same level.

Go Vandy!

Im very proud of Vandy so far this season..

I've always pulled for them, looks like they're heading for a 6-5 season at least, with a bowl trip coming up..

***NOTE***

If Vanderbilt does go 6-5, and doesnt get a bowl, I'll be very aggrivated, and quite possibly lay down and die Evil or Very Mad

After watching the Ole Miss v. Vandy game Evil or Very Mad I will have to say they go 7-4. Maybe they can go to the Music City Bowl Laughing

That is entirely possible. They should beat Richmond, Middle Tennessee, and Kentucky. They should have a decent shot at South Carolina, although beating Spurrier is a bit hard to imagine. They certainly have no business beating Georgia, Florida, or Tennessee. 6-5 to 7-4 at best. Either way seeing Vandy in a bowl game would be pretty sweet. Shocked
