In the real world a left handed infielder after fielding the ball, is in an extremely awkward position to get a throw off to first and some additional footwork work is generally required. Is this left handed defensive liability factored into smallball? I do notice that all players are depicked graphically as throwing right handed.

When they are shortstops and they get the ball, they find themselves in a very akward position to throw to first base. If you're a righty you just throw, but if you're a lefty, you have turn a bit before you can throw. And because most batters a righties, a lefty catcher can't easily throw to second base if there's a steal, because the batter is in front of him..

Leftys can play any position. There are so few quality left handed players, they all get pushed into pitching and playing 1B, though.

I only agree with Lola Lola's statement about Lefty infielders if you're talking about charging a slow roller. In that situation, it's pretty tough to adjust and throw quickly to first.

Exactly, everything in life is designed to fit the normal, if you're not normal, you're out of luck...

Which kind of sucks because nobody is 100% normal and everyone is at least a tad screwed over by the world. But the more directed everything is towards normal, the better things work.

Except being a lefty hitter. That's usually a nice boost (until the lefty specialist reliever comes in, at least).

Nobody is 100% normal, there's just different things that people have that can be normal. There's norms in all walks of life and nobody will ever fit into all of them. It's how many of them you do fit into that determines how normal you really are.
