I have heard/seen it mentioned a couple of times. People mentioning that changing their FPS affected their skill gains. Can anyone shed some light on this?

The differences in skill gains, which skills it does/does not affect, and how you change your FPS.

Thanks

look in your smallball folder- deluxe trainer folder, for DT setup then the default should be fps= 33 i believe, then change it to whatever you want to, you cant get 99999 unless you minmize it though, if it is open it cant go no faster than 200fps, hope this helps!

if you change the fps to 99999 and minimize in dt, you can train your whole team in running, catching, throwing, and pitching in just a couple minutes. i call it "microwaving" or "fast forwarding" the guys...i don't know, just because. if you minimize while batting though, you'll get mostly, if not all, contact and very little else. it doesn't affect skill gains any, it just speeds up the amount of training recieved in between skill gains. it's not a big secret, but it's VERY VERY useful!!! hope that helps.

I've also heard that quite often since DT came out, however whenever I tried to meassure the effect by comparing the actual skill gains I never noticed any difference.
Anyway if there was any effect it should affect all skills and not just power.

I have also heard that changing the files that come with smallball is considered cheating and can result in punishments too horrible to mention.

True, but I don't think there's any gain to speeding up your training session, other than saving 10-15 minutes. If messing with the FPS affects your training in any other way then I'll go back to standard FPS.

i have seen commish post on this before, and he wasn't against it. he did state that it has never been tested and you do it at your own risk

i have seen commish post on this before, and he wasn't against it. he did state that you do it at your own risk, as it's not a "supported" feature of dt.

Commish posted in Real on August 16th 2002
"Changing the FPS on the DT has not been tested and you do it at your own risk."

Also note that several people complained of problems in which commish and dtguy told them to reset their FPS to the default and stop messing with it so it goes to say, they havent tested it and you really shouldnt mess with it. I doubt anything could happen other than maybe having to reinstall though.

I appreciate the feedback..My archaic system would most likely lock up if I tried changing it anyways. I had just heard it mentioned a couple of times and thought I had maybe missed the boat.

Just a little idea about this: If increasing the FPS would really reduce ur skill gains,l shouldn't decreasing the FPS INCREASE the skill gain?

Now I haven't tested that and I still don't really believe in the whole "FPS changes skill gain" stuff but I think that would be logical, right?

Changing it doesnt increase your skill gains. If it did, I suspect this topic would be gone and it would be changed immediately as it would be considered cheating.

What is does do is increase the speed of which you can train. Your guys run around super fast, bat fast, throw fast etc.

Dont read more into this FPS thing than there is.

I think you are right, however the question to those people who believe that increasing ur fps does decrease ur skill gain remains: If what u believe is truewhy shouldn't the opposite which is stated above also be true?
