Playing Catch in DT |
|
|
| Will anyone please give advise or comments concerning Playing Catch in the DT. It has been my experience that players gain more catch skill in fielding practice. I realize that they gain some passing skill playing catch, but it is minimal. Isn't it better to training in fielding and throwing separately? What am I missing? |

To gain maximum skill in catching in the DT use the catching circle with only 1 man in the circle. It sounds stupid but it gives a lot of catch skill. If your throwing skill is high it will not give any throwing skill. if it's low it will give minimal throwing skill.

Catching in circle |

Thanks for the help. Follow-up question...If this is the best way to get catch skill, why would you train in the fielding area? |

Outlaw, this is a big problem for me & many other owners.
When I open my DT and forget to tell them to rest they go to that worthless field and start to screw around and throw the ball to eachother like it's some sorta little league practice.
We asked SmallBall to make it where all the players run to the rest area instead of running to the field. As it is now they just waste their TP in catching & throwing and maybe 1 bench guy gets bat skill.... It's not been changed as you can see.
Edit: But like Beaner said, maybe there's something we are missing????? _________________ If books had been invented after the computer, they would have been considered a big breakthrough.

TW is right...one person at a time in catch gives total catch unless they have weak arms, then you get a little throw and a bunch of catch.
Fielding is good when you need a little catch and a little run. |

| Is it better to put my guy in the circle and let him throw the ball in the air to himself, or is he better off taking balls from the cannon? I assumed that the cannon was better. Maybe I am just confused - It is Monday! |

one person in the circle is best for JUST catching....the fielding area (cannon) will give you moderate catch gains and low run gains. Depends on what you need most as to which you use. |

Why have the cannon? |
|
|
| Thanks everyone for the great advise. It seems that we all see it the same way. If the circle gives you the best catch, and the track gives you the best run, then why train on the cannon at all? That is, of course, if you want to train a complete pie on a single skill. Thanks all... |
