I think some people can and some cant. The ones that cant seem to have the game freeze when the start a game against somone. Similar to the problems I had with the Java VM. I dont know if that was ever fixed.
ADD<< It must be working pretty good for alot of players as I am getting email notifications left and right about teams playing me. _________________ "Oderint dum metuant" |

I've always had the problem that I'll start things up and then no players will show up and all my memory will be used up.
When I switched Java to Sun Java 1.18, it screwed up my baseball games and then killed the sound on my AIM.
So I reinstalled with the old Java and quit football... _________________ "I can resist anything except temptation" - Oscar Wilde |

It is quite daunting, but it's a deep involved game and I think it will evolve towards more simplicity in the future. I don't know much about soccer, but I did enjoy it somewhat. I liked watching the games but the training was all over the place. I look forward to see if they fix, first the Java probs and then improve the simplicity of it..... _________________ "I can resist anything except temptation" - Oscar Wilde |

It seems that if you are gonna do the football thing, you should reboot and clear all your system resources, then train or whatever and then play your game. It seems to hog resources so if it hangs again reboot again. _________________ "Oderint dum metuant" |

I have always found Sun Java 1.18 to give the best performance in football but apparently it does not work with SBFB under Windows 9x (N.B. This may well have ben fixed )and also ''apparently'' now messes up baseball. Can you clarify this please shooter because 1.18 is the version in the smallball java bundle available for download for over a year, surelythis version would not screw up your baseball games?
For all of you that are having trouble, try playing around with the Java VM's, the main ones being 1.18, 2.x and dare i say it, Microsofts. |

Ah, that explains it. As long as you have a PC of at least 300-400mhz ish i suggest installing Sun Java 1.31 (Sun Java 2) at this page :
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html
That should get you sorted. Plus you get a colour monitor in the match stadium |

Well I tried all of those and even tried the Sun Beta Version they have out now and still had errors with smallball. If I got football working, baseball would act wierd. When I got baseball running, football messed up.
I uninstalled everything and just installed the Microsoft VM version 5.0
I dont know if thats a new one, or an old version or current or what but both applications run well. I also reinstalled smallball back to the "lite" 1 meg version which also may be a reason why it all works. The 5 meg version comes with the VM and I think they were all conflicting.
Anyway it works fine now, I just dont run it because I also use a different resolution because my eyes are not what they once were. Having to switch resolutions got to be a pain in the butt.
I like the soccer but when it is more simplistic I will get back into it. Right now with all the teams I have in baseball, I simply dont have time for it.
I will however try and help anyone who needs it or answer any questions I can. CJ however has been playing longer and been more successful. He can give better tips and techniques than I can. _________________ "Oderint dum metuant" |

IMO, it's working phenomenal! I just played my first game and won 3:0! Thanx for creating SBF Commish...I personally think it has the most potential of all sports to be created! It is the best game so far! No bugs so far for me....but I really wish there was more contact....and Yellow and Red cards....that would add a whole new dimension to the game! But really, I love it Cman!.....It's really cool! |
