How hard or easy was it to figure out SmallBall Baseball? |

I know SmallBall Baseball is very different from most computer baseball games. Of course we went out of our way to make it different but we also want it easy to figure out.
I'd love to know your opinion; was SmallBall easy to figure out? _________________ For Customer Care please email: Support@SmallBall.org |

It was average to me. It was tough the first couple weeks trying to figure out how to play games and what did all the skills mean and were to find teams to play. When I started SB, there was no * Lists so it was kinda tough. But, yeah, I would say Average.
EDIT: I agree with Beaner below ----v

| That is what makes smallball so great! It's fairly easy to figure out how to play games, but it's a challenge to build and maintain your team. There are so many factors that determine how good your team will play. |

Who the heck has figured it out? I can do the basics, I can even win against some pretty good teams.
With the exception of a few rare owners, I don't think many can say they have actually figured it out!!! |

I figured since this post is in the Beginners forum you want newer players opinions but I'll stick my memory of just starting out in here.
It was an avarage game to learn how to operate. I realized by accident that I was in the Pro League when I first started but that may have been fixed with the message on the training Jumbo Tron. Like Beaner said, Figuring out your players is a whole differnt story. The reason I'm still here is because of the players on my teams.
Playing Psycho last night and seeing how some of my players are know by name by somebody other than me is pretty cool. Once over the little hump of learning the game, then you have months and even years of fun playing this game. _________________ If books had been invented after the computer, they would have been considered a big breakthrough.

I would say that in the beginning, before I understood how it all work, I was more focused on beating my buddies. They got bored with game and quit, while I continued to pursue what made everyone stick with it. By reading the Forums and the HP News and all those other websites, I started to understand what it was all about. Then, all it took was a nice gesture from TW. He gave me a trial DT and that was it. Once I had that and I could refine my training, my addiction was firmly planted.
I would guess that the only thing that kept me interested in the beginning was my love of baseball. When most every game nowadays has the user controlling the actual movements on the field, this was definitely some that is testing something other than just my hand-eye coordination. |

It was somewhat hard for me...but if you exclude power hitting then SmallBall wasn't too hard. If you have good background knowledge of baseball then figuring out SmallBall isn't too difficult. There's still things that perplex me like (as of last season) my 3rd best hitter could only hit .300, when a pitcher is "maxed out" he'll give up a bunch of homeruns, how to make your hitters into HR hitters (thanks to the QT tickets I figured that out ). |

I think I'm with Beaner on this one. The basics of the game are easy enough to understand but figuring out ur team...phew that's something different.
However the biggest challenge I faced in my 1 1/2 years of SB was/is to rebuild my Dragons into the 9* they were before my move to the US and the affiliated 3 weeks without training |

Was easy enough to learn the basics. But I doubt I will ever learn about my team in the longrun. They seem like a bunch of slackers sometimes, and other times they play like gods. |

I think I have the basics down, but now all sorts of questions rising. How to get better, and becoming in the leagues. Could anyone tell me how the top 100 of the Daily Star leagues are calculated?
With that comes that I'm from Holland and my Englisch isn't perfect, so sometimes I have problems translating and understanding. |

Hi Erikst! I hope this answers your question | Quote: | | The Star Ratings are a simplified skills ranking system that allows you to roughly judge your team's collective skills compared to other teams. Only your 9 man roster is considered in your star rating. Players on the bench are not considered for the star rating. This rating only judges the skills of the team, not how intelligently the team has been managed by its owner to ensure that each player is strongest in the skills he needs most to play his position well, and help his team win. Thus, although two teams may have identical Star Ratings, one team may consistently beat the other -- the better team's players may be assigned to field positions that better match their abilities, or they may have a smarter batting lineup. | I found that on the official SmallBall Help site, located at http://smallball3.prognet.com/small/help/index.shtml _________________
