If you ever buy Gift cards for someone for a gift (or if you ever receive one, etc) you may want to read this.. and consider it a friendly warning.

Well the crooks have found a way to rob you of your gift card balance. If you buy Gift Cards from a display rack you may become a victim of theft. Crooks are now jotting down the card numbers in the store and then waiting a few days and call to see how much of a balance THEY have on the card. Once they find out the card is "activated", they go online and start shopping. To help avoid being an easy target - you may want to purchase your card from a customer service person, where they actually hand you a card from behind the counter and not viewable to the public.

Good point, Mike. Never would've thought about that. I guess that's why I wouldn't make a good crook. Wink

One thing though. I know at least Wal-Mart Gift Cards (That's the only kind I have in my wallet. Wink ) have the card number under a foil layer (don't know what else to call it) that you have to rub off with a coin. If it's like that, you should be fine as long as you make sure that hasn't been rubbed off.
