Who's gonna take this one guys?

I think it will be the defense who wins, and with that, I will take Ohio State

20-14

A wise way to go about it, BP. I say it's even closer, with both teams struggling offensively for the 1st 3 quarters, then break out in the 4th!

OSU wins 24-21

Ohio state wins over the inexperienced newbs on the Texas Team

Texas returns more starters this year than OSU, and if it is a defensive battle, Texas may have the edge.

I still am picking Ohio State 27-17.

But Ohio State's returners are at the key positions. Very talented QB and WR and all around good D. Texas lost their whole offense in Vince Young last year and will be interesting to see if they can move the ball down the field against OSU.

Vince Young was a HUGE part of their offense, but you can't just win a national championship by yourself. The Defense is better than tOSU, we have the talent, but we lack the experience. Texas will be able to move the ball against the buckeye defense, but OSU's offense will be too much for Texas. In the NIU game, Troy Smith did very little scrambling and option plays. I have a big nidge that Smith will show the nation why he should become the leading heisman canidate in this game. Buckeyes will start the game off throwing deep on the first play to ginn, then Smith will show the rushing attack that he brings to the table.

I don't see it being a defense struggle at all. I think Texas watching the OSU game last week won't show them much. They didn't open up the playbook the least bit. No designed runs by Smith, no reverses to Ginn, not much Ginn as a spread HB, which can be a sick formation when ran right. Texas will move the ball no doubt, but after halfitime will be the key. Who can make the adjustments to try and slow the other down. Also, Brown, Texas' CB who is going to be out, could prove to be a huge hit. I really just want to see how McCoy handles the different looks he is going to get. Heis going to have to spread it around very well, because all signs point to Texas needing to score a decent amount. And about the game In Austin, I think it makes a small difference. Both teams have experience in big games, and away stadiums, OSu vs Mich last year, or either team's bowl games are examples.

Should be another thriller, I will give the edge to OSU only because of experience at QB. Look for Smith to have a good game, because you know he wants to redeem himself from his mistakes made last year.

OSU- 38 Texas-33

The majority of OSU fans including myself have grown up with the Buckeyes. We always rooted them on. Even through the Cooper years.

Even though we are the #1 seed we are technically the underdog by 2 1/2 points for this game.

So what were you saying?

What I meant by Inexperienced newbs was first of all the QB. Redshirt Frosh and starting. He will make mistakes against a much better team than North Texas. And also a few on offense and defense.

Mainly I was point out at the QB. Happy?

Well considering I've lived 2 hour from Columbus my entire life, I think you should re-think your proposition. Considering, I also am cleveland sports fan, I highly doubt I'm a front runner. Yah man those Browns and Indians sure do light up the playoffs Rolling Eyes

At least the Indians are actually a good team, unlike the Brownies.

I see OSU winning. I don't think Texas has that amazing of a team this year. I really don't think they compare well to OSU, and I'd be very surprised to see them come within a touchdown of OSU, let alone beat them.

Note that this is basically an unbiased opinion. I'm somewhat of a Cleveland sports fan (really just the Indians, although I like the Cav's too), but that doesn't spill over to College football in the least. From a completely unbiased point of view, OSU has a team that should be able to beat the crud out of the Longhorns.

I didn't state the Cavs since they are actually good again, and did make the playoffs. Thus, Chippy had no need to comment on them, off of my post.

4 hours or so till kickoff, should be a dandy.

This will be a great game. I know Colt McCoy is young and Texas has a small defense but they are freaking good. Toy Smith can't throw it long. Ted Ginn Jr. makes him look good on those screen passes that break out for 30 yards.

Go Dallas Mavericks!

oops.. wrong sport. Embarassed

I know nothing about college football. So I just root for my home team. Oh well, I still wont feel bad if they lose.

Go Longhorns!

You obviously don't watch college football much. Troy Smith can't throw it long, ha you make me laugh. Granted he didn't get to throw many deep today, but he didn't need to.

Defense won the game, and inexperience kill Texas. McCoy didn't have a very good game, didn't have many opportunities as well. They didn't let him go deep, which I think they needed to do. Texas should have never scored a TD, roughing the passer, meh I don't think so.

Texas won't lose again though, so still a BCS bowl. Only game they have left is Oklahoma, rest of the schedule is weak.

24-7
