When I am trying to figure out how to position my players in batting order I consult the" swing skill " option from my clipboard. I would just like to know how some of you guys decide who to put where. Very Happy

I put my fastest runners 1-2, then my best hitters 3-4-5. 6-8 I put the rest of the fielders/basemen, and 9 has always been my pitcher.

So you follow the way that a major league team sets their order.

But i think its all how about what works for you. im sure that line up wont work for everyone cause some people have their pitcher as their best hitter so he wont work has the 9th batter. Also my fastest guys cant hit to save their lives so its all about what works for you.

my batting order goes guys with highest contact plus swing skills as 1, 2, and 3 power hitters at 4 and 5, then 6, 7, and 8 are rest of my contact hitters then its my worst batter.

I usually do this:

1. highest OBP
2. second highest OBP
3. highest OPS
4. second highest OPS
5. next highest SLG
6. next highest SLG
7. next highest OBP
8. next highest OBP
9. next highest OBP

Yeah, I did this arbitrarily at first, but it seemed to work well so I just left it. However, this thread got me looking over my lineup a little more closely, and I think it's time to tweak it.

Well, after rearranging my lineup, I'm somehow in danger of losing a game to a team two stars lower than me (only 1-0 in the middle of the 7th). Obviously, the MLB style of batting orders doesn't apply too well to SmallBall, so I'm wondering, Oaf, how you determine this:

OBP=Singles (for Smallball) divided by the number of at bats the player has.

SLG= Total bases divided by at bats.

OPS= OBP+SLG

I mix mine up quit often , but usually I put guys with high batting average , with less power , 1 and 2 , the 3, 4 ,and 5 slots , guys hitting the homers , 6 through 9 is really a toss-up

I sort by averages.. and then line them up 1 to 9

then I sort by Homers hit, and place the top 3 in that category in my 3rd, 6th and 9th spots in the lineup. That way I have some decent power all the way through my lineup.

Uhmm.. if you put your best 3 in the 1st 2nd and 3rd spot.. doesnt that show you why your back of the order always falls through?

No wonder the back part of your lineup may strike out if you just scatter your guys in the 4-9th spots.. you nee dot have SOME kind of ordering system to use to keep it from happening so often dont you think?

Lets say your best 3 are in spots 1-3 of your lineup.. you get 3 singles to open a game.. and then dont have anyone behind them in the order with the ability to knock a run or two in?

I like to put my two best righty AVG players 1 and 2
Put my best lefty AVG 3
Highest Slug% 4
Next higest Slug% 5
6-9 in order by AVG...

sometimes I'll use 9 spot for somebody just off the bench.

Anybody want a good stats calculator? You don't have to put the numbers in, it will read your team's web page.

If there's an interest I'll post a download link next time I check SB forums.

I just open the clipboard, close my eyes and move the cursor rapidly everywhere while clicking and dragging once in a while. Cool

I put....

1. Most homeruns
2. 2nd most homeruns
3. 3rd most homeruns.
4. 4th most homeruns.
5. 5th most homeruns.
6. 6th most homeruns.
7. 7th most homeruns.
8. 8th most homeruns.
9. the freakin crap player than cant hit for poop.

Reason, I want the guys that average a homerun or more a game to get more bats in... they usually have the highest average anyway.

The only time I have done this and seriously trained I was able to take 28982 up to 2nd PL with no repeats.... that was right after I tried this. After that I got tired of the game and havent trained seriously since.
