can a good goalie have bad reaction skills? |
|
|
i've always believed that reaction skill is important for goalkeepers but just how important is it? i've been training a team and have found three possible goalkeepers in the group. their rankings in GK/R skills leave quite a conundrum ... do i go with my top GK prospect even though his reaction skill is the worst?.
player A: top rated in goalkeeper skill but worst in reaction
player B: ranked third in goalie skill and first in reaction
player C: raniked second in goalie skill and fourth in reaction _________________ the golden days, they went so fast.

I would go with B, simply because of the reaction. It is really important. _________________ 73298 l 4044

I would go with player C.
If you have a goalie that is #1 for goalie skill and at least in the top 8 for reaction, he is your goalie. Only because reaction in the top 8 is very close together and seperated by few points. However, if he is last or near that, that means your goalie will have trouble learning to react and using it effectively.
Reaction is important, but there's a fine line, if you know what I mean. |

Train B and C for two or three more days. If the results are still the same, I'd go with B, but most likely one of those two will pull away and be the obvious choice. At least, that's what happened to me. _________________ Not now John

i was training them all to max in GK, running and reaction skills and then left them alone for ten days while on vacation. i was disappointed to see my #1 gk prospect did not rank in reaction. i've altered my plan to train B and C as goalie's. unfortunately, A is also ranked at the bottom in run speed which means he'll likely never make it off the bench. them's the breaks ..
thanks for the feedback. _________________ the golden days, they went so fast.
