Is it safe for me to... |

Pull a guy I KNOW is one of my pitchers so he can get some rest and get more TP and put a guy who throws 112 mph but Im not at all sure hes the guy?
Reason being I started this team when I was a bad manager and I had no idea that the pitcher on the mound wouldnt be the best.. I then went through tons of pitchers and finally found the guy. UNFORTUNETLY hes down to a 5 star overall player hitting barley .100 becasue he has no one to relieve him since I havent found my other pitcher..
The question is.. pull the stud pitcher and let the guy Im not sure of throw in the proleagues (possibly throwing him to the wolves) while allowing my other pitcher to get better.. or find my other pitcher FOR SURE before I jump to this decision.
I realize no one has all the answers Im just looking for advice.. and maybe a little discussion.
If anyone knows how to find the pitchers on a team that has already reached 9 stars it would be greatly appreiciated. _________________ Sphere of Influence - 491504

Umm, sorry if I misunderstand what you're saying If I'm totally off, just tell me..
I THINK we might be in kind of the same situation, though, but my situation is a little different in some respects. It sounds like you've spent a lot of time finding this stud pitcher.. Whereas I've found a guy who's pretty good, but I've never actually done the "finding your pitcher" process. I plan to soon.. But after tomorrow, because tomorrow I'm going to try to remember to conduct my "loss of pitch speed" experiment .
Where I see similarities between us is that... Obviously, to see if the guy you find is THE right one, you have to play-test him. I'd have to train him up, then throw him out.. And what if he sucks? I know that being at the top of the "pitcher" skill is a good indicator, but the fact is, I've grown accustomed to MY pitcher, and he does DECENTLY, and walking into the unknown is freaky.
BUT, the OTHER fact is that my pitcher SUCKS at other things, too. He loses pitching skill, so I give him training every day, which cuts down on his other training.
I know I didn't exactly attempt to answer your q, but that's just because I don't really feel qualified to . Since I haven't found my "true pitcher" yet (well, maybe I have.. we'll see). I jsut thought I'd tell about how things are going for me, maybe it'd make something click.. I don't know :p _________________ 518746 8* :: 448488 5* :: 481184 6* :: 524595 7* :: 524554 6* :: 521190 6* -- Darmin

| Eventually, I think, you should give someone else a try on the mound. Your guy now probably will always be your #1 pitcher, but you should find a #2. This new guy might be it. If you look at PL1, most of those teams have at least 2 pitchers. With more than one pitcher, after maxing in throw & pitch, they'll still have TP left to train in other skills. |

I'm not sure if this will help you or not but I found I guess my best pitcher when I was 8*and in Jr pro league. It was when I first started with my first team and I got lucky and stayed in the pro's. I actually guessed which I thought were my best hitters and kept training them, I trained my bench players and maxed them in pitching, one was comparable to my other pitcher who I was using,so I switched them back and forth.The other two I trained them too replace other guys on the field so they could be trained and so on. It took me probably about six weeks but I finally found the two top pitchers and another that will fill in adequately. It gets kinda confusing but it is worth it in the end. I hope that sorta helps you. Desperate times call for desperate measures lol. _________________

Oh texas leave me alone.. I hate you and your team that has all contact hitting trained and plays in the monster stadium so they can win 8-9 wins a year there.
Secondly I doubt you acctually spawned any of those teams yourself except that 900 team that you payed 80 bucks for. How great. =/ _________________ Sphere of Influence - 491504

| Sphere....You should assume that when you post that you were a bad manager someone would say something. I have to admit here that Texas is much more liked and a better trainer.... |

Seriously SOI you are gaining more and more enemies everyday. I'm with Texas on this one. Don't be surprised to see your name as a topic in Off Topic. You should try to respect the people that are giving advice, after all you asked for it anyway. One rule of the forum: If you post prepare to get a response and that is what you got. _________________

Elk does that mean Im supposed to put my tail between my legs and crawl away? Im not a bad trainer.. Im a very good trainer. Not great I simply was saying when I knew a lot less about smallball that I made a mistake.
Ill have no respect for anyone because they are good at a video game, if they cant respect me when all Im trying to do is have fun playing a game. Im tired of defending myself. _________________ Sphere of Influence - 491504

I didn't say anything and I am not bashing you. You just need to calm down and prepare for what you get. _________________

Smit I wasnt disrespecting him.. he has a well trained team they beat me and its SO annoying I thought I had an easy proleague win but I didnt notice the monster park.. the second I saw that I realized that his 8 star team was trained for contact.. a pretty nice stratagie.. I dont have time to try it myself but I hear you'll win in a stadium like that when you train your team as such 90% of the time.
honostly smit.. read what Ive said in this post then read what I got from texas for no reason. smit.. honostly Im sorry if Ive disrespected you in the past.. but I cant bring myself to read the rest of that post. _________________ Sphere of Influence - 491504

I don't know. Maybe it's just a matter of opinion, but it has seemed to me that Sphere stepped down a notch or two after the initial hoard of flames. It seems like his most recent question posts have taken the more "humbly questioning" form that I see most often in places like the Beginner's Forum.
I'm not taking sides, and I recognize that a lot of people are mad at SOI, and I'm not going to condemn anyone for feeling the way they feel. But I'm wondering, is anyone ready to maybe give him a second shot? _________________ 518746 8* :: 448488 5* :: 481184 6* :: 524595 7* :: 524554 6* :: 521190 6* -- Darmin

We can, but just one thing SOI. Commish put the search button there for a few reasons. One so we don't have to keep explaining things over and over again and 2 so people don't keep spamming.
Just try to save some questions for a rainy day or at least use the search.
BTW you have had some very good questions, but don't ask every single question you have. Sometimes it is better to learn or your own or from your own mistakes. That is how I did it and look where I am now. _________________
