Every kids dream is to get a foul ball of some type at a major league baseball game.

Yesterday I attended my 21st game ever (18 at Yankee Stadium, 3 Mets games). We crossed the GW bridge in plenty of time nad got to the parking garage at 4pm jsut as it opened. We bowled 2 games at the bowling alley across from the right field entrance and got to the gates jsut as it was opening. We rushed into the upperdeck in right field even though we were sittign in left field. We watched the yankees take battign practice hoping that the few people (literally like 3) in the upper deck would make competition for a ball easier. In previous games ive been to ive watched Yankees lefties just litter the upper deck with batting practice balls. Unfortunately this wasnt the case. Intil finally Ruben Sierra hit one one section to my right but liek 5 rows higher then me and it wasnt even close for me to get as someoen jsut comign in was able to climb down a row or two to get it. 20 mins pass and not another ball comes into the upper deck intil Ruben Sierra hits one half a section to my right and only one row higher. I quickly raced to get it, I get there at jsut the same time as the only other guy in the area and i dive for it reaching it jsut before him. So i was able to leave the stadium last night after a Yankees win with a ball clutched in my hand and a smile a mile wide on my face.

took me a while but I got my ball. HAve had 3 close calls in the pass but this time I got it Smile

Its more impressive when you get the home run ball that smacked you upside the head because your attention was on the beer vendor instead of the game.

Not that I'm saying you getting a ball at the game isn't cool, but wouldn't a concusion and a giant lump to go with it be more of a conversation starter?

That's sweet, LCD. Now you just need a game ball to match it.

I remember this minor league game I went to. I was in a pretty empty section and a ball was hit foul there. I ran over and got it and felt pretty special. However, that specialness drained from me when I was leaving and went into the parking lot. There I found two other balls that no one really gave a damn about.

I got a foul ball at a Toledo Mud Hens game... (AAA)

It bounced on the lower deck once, then up to the upper deck, and then fell back down to the lower, and I caught it!

I was so excited, I was tempted to give it to a girl... but I figured a baseball was more important... lol

(Nice one LCD! but the yanks suck!)

My husband once caught a foul ball that was mere inches from hitting our (daydreamy, ADD) daughter's head. And she had no clue!

At Minor League games I have caught numerous balls and even got a bat. One game I think me and my bro hauled in four balls. One came from the players warming up. I bugged them the whole game and he finally threw it to me. Then the other three came from the umps at the end of the game. I got the bat because Chattanooga Lookouts (AA) were playing Mobile Bay Bears and I was decked out in Alabama stuff (Crimson Tide but still Alabama) and so I was on the field for the fireworks show and was running around. A guy peeked his head out of the locker room looked around then threw the bat to me. I jumped on it before anyone else got it. Man was I happy that night.

wow! I can't believe I forgot about this whole incident. I got to be a batboy for the Modesto A's (AA, AAA something). The guy hit the ball and threw the bat off to the side really far. So far in fact it hit me upside the head and knocked me out.

I didn't get to keep that bat. Crying or Very sad
All I got was a HAT, one that said, "MODESTO A's" on it. I don't think I ever even wore it once.

just an update on my luck

went to the game on monday got another ball in BP off of Robinson Cano's bat

went tot he game tonight (thursday) and got another Ball in BP off Canos bat again.

get there jsut as the gates open and very little competition for balls in Right Field upper deck of yankee stadium, plus very lucky

Ball on monday was hit right at my uncle and was jsut above his reach just glancing off of the top of his fingers.

Ball tonight was hit 2 rows above me and maybe 5 seats to my right and i had an easy journey to get to it since no one was in the area

I caught a ball in 1996 at Busch Stadium while the Cards were taking BP. That was before they got McGwire and people didn't go early for BP.

Which is cooler to get: a BP homer or an foul ball during the game?

I've never made it to an Angels or Dodgers game in time for BP.
Even if I wanted to, I'm sure the LA freeways wouldnt allow me to get there in time anyhow.

I did catch a lined foul ball (field level) off of Brian McRae (KC) a couple years ago at Angel Stadium. I ended up keeping it, as it was my first MLB "game ball".

Funny thing is, I didnt realize how bad my hand hurt until after the game. Confused

I went to one cubs game and one white sox game, both as a little kid. All I remember about the games was the drunk guys afterwards in cow costumes that would come up to my dad, my brother and I and say "hey kids, drink milk!"

I have a ball I caught at a Seattle Rainiers game in Sicks Stadium, right field bleachers. I got it autographed by Pitcher Bill Spanswick, it's on the shelf right above the computer. He played one year in tha majors, 1964 Boston Red Sox.
