Lefties used to be better, but now I don't know if they are any better or not. Their averages are skewed because if they are fast and reach base before a fly is caught or something like that, then they get credited for a hit when they actually flied out. This is supposed to be fixed in the future. The short answer is that unless you are using a lefty park, or playing a bunch of guys with the lefy park, then they are no better or worse. |

There are a couple of REAL advantages (not bugs) for lefties now.
The most obvious is that most people put their best fielders on the left side of the infield and outfield given that over 85% of the players were right handed. So, lower star teams with lefties could gain an advantage over a regular team if their fielding isn't balanced.
The second is almost a bug. With a runner on second, the 2B always parks himself on the bag and leave a huge hole on the right side of the infield. Normal outs become singles for lefties.
Thrid is that they are closer to first base. Maybe you think they're faster, but they don't have as far to go to get to 1st as a righty.
I won't count the stadiums, because its up to an owner to customize his team to the stadium he plays in. If that includes lots of lefties, so be it. _________________ JD

Just as JD said, Leftys are more valuable. In real life as well as in SmallBall. It wouldn't be good to have a team with too many leftys but to have 5 of the 9 be GOOD leftys would be great. There may be a day when smallball changes that 2nd baseman holding the bag but the 1st baseman holding the bag is doubtful that will ever be different. Just with that 1st baseman holding the bag you have a lefty advantage. So buy the tickets and try it and if you don't like it buy some more and change it back. _________________ If books had been invented after the computer, they would have been considered a big breakthrough.
