Some help analyzing home run hitters |
|
|
I want you to look at Caigmer and Gio, and see if this makes sense
Thats the sorted, batting list
Craigmer
Gio
So Gio is above in all skills except for 1, but now look at the homerun difference
23 homers out of 33 games
39 homers out of 33 games
Even though Gio is above on the Sorted bat list, and above craig in 2 out of 3 skills, craigmer still has hit 16 more homers.
Can anyone try to explain this to me?
Gio has less swing skill than craig, does swing skill make the home run hitter difference?

From my experience Swing Skill makes all the difference.
The reason simply being that a player with a lower swing skill and a slightly higher Power Skill will see some of his potential HRs turn into long fouls. |

That is what it seems to me too. So, I think that would be the reason. |

| Seems to me like it could be a combination of swing skill and batting order possibly? |

First, I agree with MDragon's idea, lower skill could be the reason for the difference. But... that might not be the reason for Rambler's conundrum.
Rambler, please try to understand the meaning of the next sentence:
Higher skills increase the odds of hits.
This means a player with higher contact odds could STILL hit less than a player with lower contact odds. Your two players are very close in hitting skills. Odds, rambler, means the chances of something happening. The game is not deterministic. Anything can happen. By training your player you INCREASE the chances that they do well. you see?
I suggest you continue your research with that in mind. _________________ For Customer Care please email: Support@SmallBall.org |

Ram I don't have a clue what to tell you except this, I have 3 guys on various teams that every season lead their teams in avg and HR's. Funny part is season after season they are at the bottom of contact list and swing skill. Not the highest on the power list either, I have contact batted these guys to death and benched them and they never go above 60% contact and swing skill gains are lost the next day when I open up the trainer, yet they produce and I have learned to accept it.
But like you I can't understand why I have a guy that is batting in contact at/above 95% contact, batting skill gains are minimal, power cage belting the ball at 500' every swing yet bats at .350 avg. and in 30 games hits 12 HR, and every once in a while they have a great season. I don't care where I put them in the batting order nothing changes!!
You figure this out and I will be amazed! I just think they perform as they do and anything can happen with anyone of them at any given time without an explanation. _________________
