From what i've seen it seems impossible to get to 9* without a DT. I'm pretty sure i won't get a DT because i really don't want to pay for it. I guess i'm not as hardcore about this game as most. So i guess what i'm asking is whether there's a way to get to 9* without a DT

To answer your question...

Yes, it is possible.

Is it easy...NO. The DT definitely makes it easier to get to 9* and keep it that way. That is the hardest part. Keeping your team at 9*. I got to 8* with ST but I grew impatient and bought a DT. The training is much more concentrated with the DT than the ST, although not as concentrated as the Quick Train Tickets. I know there are ways to train more specifically in ST like putting a weak pitcher to train power and a strong pitcher to train contact but the gains are still not very concentrated. Anyway, hope this helps.

Just to add to that...

I believe the key to getting to 9* with the ST is to make sure you don't develop any weaknesses in your team. As soon as you develop a weakness the best way to fix it is focused training on your weakness, but as has already been stated, you can't do that very well in the ST.

In summary, make sure you have a very balanced training regime with the ST if you want to take a team to 9* with it.
