A great friend of mine, has the game, and he loves it. He has played it for a long time, and has been trying to get me into it. He says its one of the best games he has played. The graphics are killer for the type of game that it is. He is a fellow Ohio'an. So that might be a plus. Wink

I heard that the new episode of South Park last night was all about WoW, and that it was one of the funniest episodes ever. I freakin' missed it though. Crying or Very sad

I have been playing for a little over three months now, and it is a good buy. Even with the monthly payment, the game still out weighs it greatly.

You can do about anything you want, no certain option to what you must do with any one of your characters. I would have to say PvP'ing is very fun, and I've gotten hooked on that recently.

And yes the episode of South Park was halarious last night, very good.

i started a thread about this a little while ago.

Well, do NOT buy WoW unless you can commit ALOT of time to it. The only way to get a respectable character is to invest massive amounts of time in 20-40 man raids to get good gear and thats after you get to lvl 60. Well, lvl 70 here soon enough as with the expansion pack.

If you plan to invest alot of time, way more then SB, then go ahead, but if not, its not really worth it.

my 2 cents

Been playing it since a day or two after it was released. Terrific game.

Also of note, that was possibly the best South Park EVER last night. So many things that are even more funny about it if you actually play the game.

Yeah it was an awesome episode but yeah anyway LS if you're a loser like a lot of people on here have lots of time on your hands go and buy it for sure because it will incredibly enjoybale for you. If you're not and you can only play for 1 hour every 2 days you won't get anywhere because once you get far quests can take a few hours so don't invest on the game and the monthly payments if you can't be dedicated to the game basically. And also is the Burning Crusade out yet? If so anyone have it and how is it?

WoW is to blame for me not playing SB anymore, so yes, I'd say it's worth it. Razz

The monthly fee is to pay for the constant updates in game content they perform, plus the tremendous server costs that the millions of subscribers create. If you think about it, the monthly fee breaks down to about $0.50 a day, I find that puts it into perspective a little better.

The time investment is a big thing. You can level a character from one to sixty with only playing an hour or two a day, but you will miss out on a lot of the content. If you can afford to hunker down in front of your computer for about 4 hours straight once or twice a week, you should be able to see most of the content, depending on the guild you join. Also, the player versus player aspect of the game requires no time commitments (unless you're in it for the gear, then it is), so that's a viable option if you don't have the time to raid.

Just a question but do you gain EXP from PvP'ing? I don't think you do but I'm too lazy to log in and check.

Yes and no. You don't get any experience from killing players, but if you do the battlegrounds and turn in the tokens that you get from winning or losing you get experience from that. But if you tried to level up just from turning in BG tokens it would take forever.

I play casually. It is a time sink, but it's not required for you to sink in a lot of time like some people say. If you don't have the time to level a guy to 60 and get all the best gear, then level a guy to a lower bracket and get the best gear for there. I have a level 39 Orc Hunter that is my main guy. He has all the best gear he can get for that level and he owns in that PvP bracket. It's a solid choice for people that don't have the time to sink in to the game.

And I look at the $15/month as the cost of going to a single movie. Really I get more than a couple hours of enjoyment per month out of the game so it's a good deal, I think.

It actually is a very good consdering that it's basically always being updated and there's no real glitches (I haven't noticed any) But I'm having trouble playing again because I do have time but I don't want to start a new character but my Lvl 17 I have is like too far for me too remember where anything is and I'd be lost so I basically have to so I've been trying out different races. Undead I hated how dark all the scenery was. Humans I never really gave a chance but didn't really like. Now I'm a Nightelf and it seems decent, probably will stick with it or go to one of my older lower level Tauren or Orc. Anyway what realms you guys play in? I mostly play in Turalyon.

4 hours straight once or twice a week? I wish.

Try 4 hours straight 6 days a week, not to mention time farming to pay for repairs and farming materials for boss encounters. Plus, you always gotta make a little room in there for actually PvP'ing a little bit.

Of course, I'm in a hardcore, dedicated raid group (that actually raids 7 days a week, although I skip 1 day). We're reaching as much content in the game as we possibly can, and we're still not quite there (for those of you who know the game, we've only killed 3 bosses in Naxx thus far, and are only up to the Emps in AQ). If you want to join a real raiding guild, that actually gets to the true end-game content, be prepared to spend outrageous amounts of time on this game. Seriously, we're talking borderline unhealthy hours here.

That's just my little rant. The game is actually very enjoyable, even with the epic amounts of time it sometimes takes. And you don't need to spend nearly that much play time to actually enjoy it. As Durin and Feldon said, casual playing is certainly a 100% viable option.

I play on Feathermoon, and probably will stick there for awhile. A few of my RL friends started playing, or swtiched servers with us, so just gonna start hangin out with them for awhile.

I think that the game doesn't commit a huge time-sink trying to level before 50 or so, it just depends on how fast you want to level. I've gone days where I just can't put it down, and level fast, or others where I just get bored. Right now though...just got into PvP, before I start leveling again to probably 39 or so.

I'm in a casual raiding guild that raids three times a week. We usually spend no more than 4 hours in a single raid, and right now we're on Domo.

My estimate wasn't concerning how much raid content you'd see, but just how much of the game in general. Raiding isn't all there is to the game (even though Blizzard tries to make it that way), as there are many other viable ways to enjoy the game.

I play Horde on the Sargeras server, by the way.

I play on Feathermoon too. Some guys at work introduced me to the game, and they were on that server already, so there is about four of us at my company that play on that server. Dragnan, 39, Orc Hunter & Mosby, 34, Undead Rogue.

Maybe when I get 39 we can BG sometime, and you can beat the crap out of me Surprised Since I've read you have about the best armor/weapons for your level, and while I don't have horrible stuff, nothing top top notch. We'll just see how long it takes me to get that far Wink
