Now if you would all give me your address's then I will be able to ship you a very...Explosive present, shall we say. Let's just wait and see who's laughing in October (and let's all remember that the Yanks are incapable of laughter, they are too busy choking).

No, I meant what I said. If the Yanks do make the playoffs, they still won't make it to the World Series. They'll lose in the playoffs (most lilely to the Sox) and it will be Mariano's fault...Again.

The Yanks aren't exactly playing great quality baseball right now. They are good, but will not be good eough in the playoffs (if they make it. You never know, Yanks might screw it up again). They aren't going to win the World series, I bet Babe Ruth on it Wink

Oh the yankees have a chance, don't get me wrong. They will be in the playoffs, so 1 in 8, a 12.5% chance of winning it all. Maybe they get home field advantage, and the NL is terrible, so I could give them a 25% chance. Yes you are a believer, but you can believe in the Tooth Fairy but it doesn't make it true. They will have to play it out against some very good competition. You're right we will have to wait until October to find out who is best (unless you go to the Chippy school of sports and it doesn't matter who wins and we can just say the Yankees are best right now Wink ).

I was going to bring this thread back from the dead too chspogo. I think it was the 99.9% sure thing. As P.T. Barnum use to say "a fool and his money are soon parted." There are three kinds of people, those who can count and those who can't, right ranger?

Had to give you grief, but you took it well and with humor. You didn't make excuses for your team, so props to you. The Yankee's will rise again which is more than you can say for at least half of baseball. Imagine being a Royal's fan or even worse a Devil Ray's fan.

And now there are reports that they might be firing Joe Torre. If that's true, that is insane. I'm a huge Red Sox fan, but Torre is the best manager in baseball.

Maybe the front office should have worked on getting younger, better pitching, instead of signing 39 year olds and firing their manager.

Jim Leyland is the best manager in baseball. No question in my mind.

Maybe Steinbrenner should conduct a 5 million dollar study on why batters are given a wooden stick when they bat.

I think you guys are forgetting about Bobby Cox. 14 straight division titles! Yeah I know only one championship though. He's still a great manager. He has one of the best and wisest minds in baseball.

I agree with Breakboy Forever. In fact, when I saw Oaf's comment, Jim Leyland was the first name that came to mind. You can say he was given good players, but lots of managers get good players. You still have to get them to produce. He turned the Marlins into World Champions. He's turned the Tigers into the best team in baseball. There's no question in my mind either. He's the best there is right now.

And on topic, I'm so glad to see the Yankees out of the running. I don't know if they've ever been more stacked with greatness as they were in 2006.
