Ok folks, again I thank you for your patience.

I am happy to say, we are in the final final stages of allowing the site to go live. All the software has been configured, updated, etc. There are some minor things left to do, but I am hoping to finish them sooner rather than later.

I have to comment on a PM I got, and try to clarify and explain something.

When WSP was being planned, the status of Smallball.org was unknown. 4500+ users would have been left with nothing if the domain/server was not updated. Therefore, due to many reasons, I contacted all the Global Mods and some trusted members about 6 months before the dreaded Oct 23 date and discussed the future plans. I mentioned that I was not prepared to deal with not knowing what was going to happen, and that I was ready to create a new site and create a SmallBall archive to save all the posts, etc. It was decided the best way to go about this was to create a new site, but import all the users, so that people would not lose their friends, contacts, etc.

Therefore, I did exactly that.

The accounts (usernames, and contact info) was simply transferred and imported to the new site so that the info would not get lost, should the server/domain not be renewed. However, in a PM I got yesterday, one user had some concerns about me doing this.

In particular his concern was with these lines of the conditions when the person signed up:

Code:
As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

Code:
The e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one).

By clicking Register below you agree to be bound by these conditions.

I would like to clarify that there is no third party here. I was the first party (along with AndNow) when the SB.org was created and I am the first party when WSF was created. All your contact info was and is safe, never to be passed on to a third party, and simply used to help the community move on to a new site. People would be able to simply log into the new site with their old information, and be ready to go. Because SB.org did not crash and burn (yet), I guess this step, although done to help the community, now bother at least one person. Therefore, this post was created to clarify and offer the opportunity for those that are concerned, worried, object to them being pre-registered.

If you do not want to be pre-registered and receive the invite when WSF goes live, please post your name below or PM me in private, and your account on WSF will be deleted!!!

Also, the person in his PM was quite upset about the fact I have let SB.org die a slow death because I never passed on the Admin powers to someone else.

1) I gave 30 days notice in public and via e-mail, PM, etc to The Commish explaining that I was leaving and that no one would be running this forum

2) I am NOT going to handcuff myself to a dying game/forum, etc because the owner does not want to respond or even come by and see what is going on.

3) I don't own Smallball, AndNow will never sell Smallball, and I got nothing for running these forums. I don't feel I should stay and continue to do so, for free, because the owner does not want to.

I have done everything I can to help out the people on this site. I created an Archive forum with all the posts, users, etc on my own server just in case this forum ever dies. I created a new forum/site for people to frequent, since there is no one running this one. I have ALWAYS offered and been on top of anything forum related, in regards to service, upkeep, and keeping this forum going. Unlike Smallball/The Commish the game, I have been here every day and took care of what I got. I do NOT play or support this game any more, and as such, I feel I should not help SmallBall deceive or piss off more people (thus the registrations are closed) All these issues can be solved by having The Commish simply coming back and running the forums or appointing someone to do it. I know most of this has been said in the past, but it was time to clarify one more and last time, what exactly happened here.

And remember:

If you do not want to be pre-registered and receive the invite when WSF goes live, please post your name below or PM me in private, and your account on WSF will be deleted!!!

that is all.

World Sports Poker? Was that a mistake, or did you change the name?

I have no problem with being pre-registered, as I am eagerly awaiting its opening.

Is it true that GW once bet his sister on four jacks and lost to a seven high straight flush and she now lives/labors in Shanghai?

This is a true story, not much of one...

Friday nights I usually work until 1:00am, but these past 2 weeks have been nasty, and I got off at 2:00am this past Friday (it always my early night off)

I was so busy that I never had a chance to get something to eat at work, and since I live so close to a casino (drive right by), I decided to go to the Poker room and eat for free.

You see at 2:00am or so, they bring out all the extra food that was not served at the World Buffet room at the casino (good food). they out it out and the Poker Players get a free munch. Friday was buttered chicken, with roasted potatoes, cold plate, desserts, etc.

Anyways, only reason i walked in was for the food... so I grabbed $100 in chips, sat at the $5/$10 table, first hand K Hearts 10 Hearts

Not a good hand, but I had position and played it for a $5 limp.

Flop comes KAx worried about the A, I only call the guys bet. Turn is a K, and I grab a nice pot to start the night...

Food comes, but line up is longish, so i go back to the table so I do not lose my cards, and get AKo. I raise, get re-raised and another guy calls. Flop is 44Q. Guy bets, get re-reraised, then re-raised re-raised. I decide to make the easy fold. flop comes A .. damn it, turn was a x.

i am thinking I might have been good, but these guys still are betting hard.

first guy flopped the boat with QQ, other guy flopped the quads with 44.

The bad beat jackpot was $20,000 and we almost had it pay out (bad beat must be at least AAA10)

I would have gotten $1250 just for playing the hand

Anyways, I eat my food, turns out I was down $13, which was the price of the meal normally 9free for poker players), and decided to go one more orbit.

Picked up 77, and raised, 2 callers. the flop cam A65, and i bet out, 2 callers, i was worried about the Ace, but then the turn was an A, and I pumped $10, 2 callers...

River was a 2, I bet out again, 2 callers...

I knew I was good, cause a A would have raised, and they showed a 5 and 6 each, so that was a nice pot for me. Next had, K9 Clubs, flop was 7 8 10 two of my suit, small $5 bet, i decide to call, turn was a red J, and check raised, with two callers. turn was a red x, and i bet, they called, and i win again with the straight. (no split) as one had 56 for the baby straight, other guy had a pair.

Kill Pot is on for me, I get 83s, check, check check, nothing, I lose my $10 ante, and stand up and I am out of these up with $255 in chips and my stomach filled only 50 minutes after I walked in.

LOL

good times

Canadian casinos are stingy, all the places I play give the poker players free food all day long. I eat steak and eggs with pancakes for breakfast every day. Very Happy

I would really like to do that as well. I'm not a terrible poker player, but I've not played in a long while.

Poker Stars had the best free (as in not for real money) tables last I played online, but I'm not sure they're still up since it all became illegal in the U.S. Let me know, I can play a little.

It would be cool if we could find a room that would allow USA players, and also allow private rooms or private tourneys (both play and real money) just for special groups of friends (like Smallballers or WSFers)

But they are pretty hard to find.

I could look into it if people are interested. (post if you are)

I could wave my magic wand and maybe it could appear?

That'd be sweet, let us now if you find something. That magic wand has been known to make some crazy stuff appear.

I want to get back into playing online poker, which site do people suggest?

Chris.

I can play poker all night, but I can't online. Just doesn't have the same feel. Anyway, sounds like a good idea thouhg. I would be tempted to play if the buy in was relatively reasonable.
