After you have found your correct pitcher you should not only train him in pitch, but also throw and run. This will increase his pitch speed. I've heard of maxing as low as 108, and as high as something like 120. When he throws that hard he will give up more home runs though, so be careful. Also, strikeouts and pitch speed aren't necessarily related. He could throw 120 mph but still strike out like five batters in a game. Low strikeouts could also mean very good defense, so keep that in mind.

Bare with me, as I am not to good at articulating my opinions.

The best way to try and make you understand, is by saying what I always say first.....this is smallball not baseball.
In baseball you can have a sharp pitcher carry a team on a day he has very good stuff. In smallball the server adds skills, positions, and randomness to come up with a winner and score.
You can have for example, two 6 star teams play vs each other. Team A is a team that has trained mostly defense up to that point, while Team B has trained only offense. Both pitchers are about the same skill wise. Since Team B has not trained in defense whatsoever..........how are the outs going to be recorded? I'll tell you how.........the server will give the outs to the pitcher since he is skilled and its the best way at that point to get the outs. In turn..........lots of strikeouts. Pitchers in smallball are way overrated, as all you need is a pitcher that holds enough pitch skill and still get some other skills in to be sharp. Thats why two or three pitchers are better than one because you can rotate on bench to get other skills in. One player out of position, or a player or two slumping can cause the difference between a win and a loss. The server can give back to back scores that look like this......20-15, and 2-1.
Is it the pitcher?

I'm happy if he's throwing 108-112. Every pitch won't be the same, but he should be getting some of his pitches up to 112.

Best thing in my opinion is........before you do anything on a team, you should max the players in pitch skill. The top pitchers will max at about 105 mph without much throw. Once you get throw and some run along with the other skills the pitcher will get up higher. Some mess with the FPS and can get a pitcher to a really high mph (118-120) but thats not really needed. At anywhere from 108-112 is about where you need to be. There are links here in the beginners forum that will tell you good ways to go about pitcher finding. Once you get that over with, you can concentrate on all other aspects of your team.
