Bat Contact, Power, and Skill |
|
|
Ok, I know how to train my team in contact (put them in the contact batting cage) and how to train them in power (put them in the power batting cage), but I ran across an old training schedule I might use, and saw that for one day you train in bat skill. UH-OH! There's not bat skill batting cage . So my question is simply:
How do I train in bat skill alone? _________________ Can I get an amen from the bobbleheads?
Just to let you know, PMs, and PMS are two totally different things!!! |

well you can't train any kind of batting "alone" unless you have a QT. By that i mean, when you are in the power cage you get some contact gains, in the contact cage you get a little skill.
To train in skill you first train your pitcher until he has no pie left, then place him on the mound in the middle of the DT, NOT the pitch pen. Then place each batter up at the plate. when they run out of pie you have to switch to the next player.. no auto train for skill.
When you do this you will get good skill gains and little contact. _________________

Thanks man!
i am going to start a training schedule on Moday (still working on defense, but its looking good).
Heres what it will look like:
Monday: Throwing
Tuesday: Contact Hitting
Wednesday: catching
Thursday: Bat skill
Friday: Run
Saturday: Power
Sunday: Whatever needs to be worked on
Is this a decent training schedule? _________________ Can I get an amen from the bobbleheads?

If I were you, I think I would replace the Thursday bat skill with another session of Power. I think Power training is the most important. This is just what I have picked up from my experience. Then maybe on Sunday you could fit in some bat skill.. _________________ www.maddenuniverse.com

Thanks McNabb, I'll make a note of that.
I have been a 5 star for almost a week now, and its driving me crazy. (shows how patient I am ) I amm trying to work out an effective shedule to make my team good. Anyone else have other suggestions? _________________ Can I get an amen from the bobbleheads?

There's no need to try and make every thread about you by posting your team ID etc... so what you hit HR's? Who cares.

No.
You can just take somebody who is not your pitcher and who has used up all of their TP and pitch them for Skill gains. _________________ www.maddenuniverse.com

Well that too. But I meant as finding a secondary pitcher or getting one of your say outfielders with a weak arm to improve their throw ability (Probably an inefficient way to do it, though).
That's what I do, especially if I want the batter to get good skill and possibly contact gains.
[edit] To OP: Forget 2 days on power hitting, you need contact more. _________________ 132472, 551096, 551226 7* DT

im definetely no pro at this game nyyderek2 but i think in your training schedule you need to work on more than just one skill a day because if you wait a week before u work on a certain skill your players will lose a lot of the skill that they game from their training. What i do is focus mainly on one skill but i will throw in a little of something else that way they wont lose their skill in that. _________________ Mizzou Royals 6*/ST

You do not need to over do it on power really. Remember that while power is king in this game without bat skill they will not pull the ball and get all of those 230-250 feet home runs, those will all become outs.
Perhaps one week skip the skill session for a power session, but make sure they get skill at least once every two weeks.
For example, look at all of those high 8* teams in monster. How do you think they score so many runs and beat 9* teams all the time. They are heavy on bat skill and contact with some power to drive the ball over the infield. Bat skill, while not completely needed to win all the time, is a good thing to have.
Nothing better then playing a game tied or down in the 9th and getting a cheap HR to win the game that only goes 219 in Ocean but because you had high skill it hugged the line and went out. That is bat skill working at it's finest. _________________
